Car Repairs

Great Progress Today

I think it’s official: In the past week, we’ve spent more on the Honda than it’s worth. And, you know . . this was not my idea!

Last week it was the timing belt, plugs, brakes, hoses, fuel filter, new tires and one new rim. Today it was a new radiator and new shocks.

I told Vince . . let’s make a bet on what goes wrong next week. Vince said “Nothing is going to go wrong! Everything is fixed now.” Does he believe that or is he just hoping I believe it?

The good news is that what we’ve spent on it is less than the personal property tax we’d pay every year probably if we had a new SUV or pickup.

I’m so tempted to take a nap. I took Vince to pickup his car. He said “You don’t mind if I go to a few flea markets, do you?” Please . . do I mind? NO! That was at least two hours ago. He called and he’s going to one more, then coming home. He did call to see if I wanted ice cream from Braum’s so now I guess I should hope he hurries home. πŸ™‚

Does Vince have a goal with his flea market searches – like a table or whatever? Or is it just to look and enjoy the freedom to be out and about? It seems like you should bring everything up from Texas before you add to your stash…. on the other hand, if Vince adds to his stash of stuff, that means more yarn and fabric for you!!

I understand going to flea markets – I used to do that in Guthrie as a nice lazy afternoon trip. But, I also added to my stash of Marcrest brownware. Marcrest was my first set of dinnerware from my mom, I stopped using it since it was heavy. I now rotate what I use and for next year, it will be my mom’s “good china and silverware”. Why not – my nieces don’t want it so I might as well use it. I’m using the good tablecloths and napkins as well. I don’t care if it is a bit wrinkled, it works just as well. Saves money on paper napkins and such.

Yes, waiting til everything is here would be ideal but not everything is here and there are things that need to be done. He was looking for “S” hooks. The stores don’t seem to have but a couple of the size I need – one package of two at Walmart, two packages of two at Home Depot. He was able to find a big box of them at a tool vendor he likes at the Joplin flea market. He has a vice in Texas but needed one here today so he was able to get one from the tool vendor.

Until everything is here, we do end up having to buy duplicates of a few things just to accomplish what we need to get done but Vince does plan to buy a second place here, once he has time to look around and see where he wants to buy. So, if he buys something he already has, the second one will go to the other place eventually.

Isn’t it great that Vince loves to shop and can look for the things you both need? And if he winds up with duplicates that he doesn’t need for his future “little cabin in the woods” maybe he can have a flea market booth of his own!

Sounds like you just bought a good used car. LOL

Really! And what better buy than one you are already used to driving and know the history. πŸ™‚
