The Stove Here

Every single time I look at the stove at the house in MO, I say “I wish I could learn to love you!” but I know I cannot. It’s the nicest glass top stove I’ve ever had but .. you know how I feel!

The oven has every possible option, or at least every possible option that was available when they bought it. Cakes. Bread. Convection. Clean. Delayed Start. Pretty much everything and more than I would use. I will be making read today so I need to get the manual out and see what that setting does.

The top has several burner configurations I’ve never had before and it’s been a bit confusing figuring out what I was turning on but I think I have it down now . . at least til I leave for a few weeks and forget it all.

Not only does it have the warming burner but it was the warming drawer in the oven. I haven’t used it yet but I’m sure it’s nice when needed.

The oven is different. I haven’t figured out the reasoning yet but in electric ovens I’ve had, the coils sit on top of the “floor” off the oven but they’re recessed in this one and there’s a rack right over them. Might have something to do with the convection, though I’ve had an electric convection oven before. Not sure. When I get the manual out, I’ll see what I can find and if it’s anything interesting, I’ll report back.

I am trying to love this stove. I will be able to live with it til I can get gas, which isn’t going to happen til we’re here full time . . which isn’t soon enough for me but way too soon for Vince (and his checkbook)!

I love my stove too, but it’s gas. It has a convection oven and works really well for baking things like TURKEYS!

Except color, that looks just like my stove. I thought I’d use the convection more than I do. But I do like the dual size burners. And the self cleaning (my old oven didn’t do that). I never have used the warmer drawer, I goofed when ordering kitchen cabinets. The one over the refrigerator is too short to hold the baking sheets, so they live in the warmer drawer. I have done canning on it, but I don’t do nearly as much as you do!

I would hate to not have convection. I use it way more than I use regular aking.

Maybe you can sell it to someone who likes electric or can’t get gas where they live. Subtract what you get from the price of the gas one and it might make you (& Vince) happier. ๐Ÿ™‚

Years ago we had no working oven for more than a year, then we got a $300 gift for Christmas and bought a stove for that amount. Yes, it was a cheaper one, but we’ve had it ever since and it’s’ still mostly working. I picked cast iron burners, since we don’t have gas, and my only complaint is that the burners take so darn long to heat up! Then they take just as long to cool down. Not ideal by a long shot, but I’ve learned to turn the heat down early when cooking things, knowing it takes three times longer than a normal electric range. We all do what we need to, don’t we? ๐Ÿ™‚

I didn’t use the warming drawer at our last house as much as I thought I would. It did come in handy a couple of times a year for big family dinners, and you cook a whole lot more than I do! ๐Ÿ™‚

In January I purchased my very first brand new stove. I researched as much as I could and decided on a very nice electric (since that is what I have used for over 50 years). I got the warming drawer on mine thinking that would be nice when I am doing big breakfast and have to keep pancakes, or waffles warm. I was making some chicken one day in the air fryer, and it takes like 3-4 batches to get it all done. I decided I would put my plate of chicken in the warming drawer to keep it hot while I was working on the other. Went to sit down a bit while the next batch cooking. Went back to the kitchen–and the drawer was open. I closed it thinking maybe I didn’t close it. Went back sat down again–when I went in again–one of my dogs (a little schnauzer mix) had nudged the drawer open, and stole a chicken leg—yep I have a chicken thief. I found out that the drawer opens way too easily for me to use as my dogs can get into it–and I have no way of being able to block off my kitchen—so there it sits not being able to be used. But that is ok also–as I said this is the first new stove I have had–and we have only lived here for 42 years. So I am still enjoying my stove.

That’s terrible. You can bet your dog hasn’t forgotten how to open that drawer. I don’t think Rita would do that but you never know.

If I had my choice again, I would not go with the ceramic top. I do like the burner on the right that has the two different sizes on it. Mine has one burner that gets hot really fast, can’t remember what it is called.
