Most mornings these days, we have a quick breakfast – cereal or toast with peanut butter and then we get busy working in the garden. Today is a drizzly, windy, halfway cold day so we are not working outside and I fixed a big breakfast.
I think I’m addicted to Blake’s biscuits.
They are so good and the leftover biscuits are something I look forward to having too. I cut them open, butter both cut sides and brown them in a skillet with a little butter.
Chad called me one day and said “When was the last time you had really, really good grits?” Well . . I think most all grits are really, really good. He told me about Professor Torbert’s orange corn grits and he continued raving about them so I ordered some.
They were as good as he said they were! Since they were a bit more expensive, I kinda expected Vince to say they were no better than the regular grits we buy but he loved them and said “You’d better order more!”
It was a wonderful breakfast! I’m thankful for the rain because (1) we need rain and (2) it gave us the opportunity for a big, late, not hurried breakfast!

Thanks for the information on the grits. I ordered some. It is hard to find any grits except instant ones around here. Californians just don’t know what they are missing!

Are you able to make the grits in the instant pot? I had some from the Amish that were ground a bit coarser than what is available in the grocery stores here. The Amish grind worked in the pot, other stuff gave me a burn notice. Just curious!

I didn’t even try. I’ve made them so long on top of the stove and they’re so easy. I’ve never had a burn notice – that I noticed.

Huh, and they are even orange!
