The Yarn I’m Finding

The first yarn I added to the spreadsheet this afternoon was this:

That is maybe the prettiest yarn of all my yarn. I wanted to stop right then and there and cast on a project but I said . . no, there’s a job to be done and it is NOT starting a new project.

Almost every yarn I pulled out, I wanted to start a project with it. I began thinking . . if I were going to a deserted island for six months and all my meals were prepared for me and all I had to do was sit and knit, which projects and yarn would I take with me. These are some that made the cut, along with the purple shown above.

This is a yarn I bought in 2014 and I remembered it just like it was yesterday. I even remember the hooded sweatshirt with cables and a zipper that I plan to make using this yarn and yes, I still want to make it.

This yarn is so round and bouncy. I don’t have a pattern in mind for it but I have enough that I can make just about any sweater I’d want to make.

This is another one that would get packed for my six month island vacation! I couldn’t remember the pattern I had intended to use but I remembered it had some zig zaggy stripes so I went right to it in my queue.

Any time I bought yarn for a specific purpose, I entered it in my queue – pattern name and yarn. So many years later, some of those patterns no longer thrill me but there are plenty of patterns I’ve bought through the years that do thrill me so I’m hoping all the yarn will be put to good use.

One yarn that had me scratching my head . .

There are 15 skeins and then there’s another 2 skeins of another color and 10 skeins of black. This Watershed by Harrisville. I kinda remember buying it but mostly, I don’t remember. I went back through my queue and nowhere is that yarn mentioned. Then I searched the blog. Yay for the blog! I found where I bought it about 5 years ago for a test knit I was doing for Laura Aylor. When it arrived, I felt the colors were too dark so I ordered something else.

I think the yarns I used were a good choice but now I need to find something to do with all that Watershed I have! But, it isn’t like that’s all that’s in my stash so I’m not too concerned about it.

The yarn sorting is done for today. Back to knitting . . on another test knit for Laura Aylor!

I LOVE that purple!!! It doesn’t go with my skin tone, but that doesn’t matter. 🙂

You definitely have some pretty yarn, but I would expect that, because you have good taste. If your desert island turns out to be no money for yarn buying, it won’t hurt you a bit!

That purple is gorgeous! I’m using a similar purple right now from Miss Babs for a Christmas present for my daughter and it’s knitting up so pretty!
