Dashi Jacket – Knitting is Done

This is the Dashi Jacket I was testing knitting for Ambah O’Brien.

I can’t get a decent picture of it because I don’t have far enough to stand to get the whole thing and the lighting in the extra bedroom is awful. Once it’s dry, I will sew the zipper in . . probably Tuesday or Wednesday.

I told Vince this may be my favorite sweater/jacket I’ve ever made. He reminded me that I say that about all of them and that’s true. But, I do love this one.

I couldn’t get a zipper the exact color. The one on the left is way more red than it appears in the picture (and the sweater is way more pink). I was thinking of using the lighter pink one because I’ll probably always wear this with a white or light pink shirt under it.

Does the up close picture make you think definitely one or the other? I’m thinking light but I could be convinced otherwise.

I’d like to find a pretty zipper pull to clasp onto the zipper.

I did an I-cord bind off (you might can see it in the first picture so I’m hoping if I do a decent job of putting the zipper in, it won’t show too much but your thoughts/reasons are appreciated.

Oooh, lovely sweater, so pretty. Definitely the darker zipper, because as the color comes off on my computer it looks like a good match. Choose the one you like.

That is really pretty. The light one looks better from here!

My first thought was the darker (I was taught to go with the darker of two good choices), but reading your description and seeing the close-up makes me think light would be better.

Looks fantastic. I think either zipper would work. There’s an Etsy Shop – Relaine – where I’ve been eyeing zipper pulls for a couple bags I want to make.

    The lighter zipper.

I would use the lighter zipper. I see a lot of jackets with contrasting zippers, and if the dark one is more red than pink, it may not look good. You could pin the zipper in place and see what you think, though.

Beautiful….I was thinking the darker, but, maybe from your comments the lighter is better 🙂

I think sweater is beautiful. You did did and excellent job as always. I like darker but if lightening is off wait and decide when can go outside.

I’d go darker as darker always sews in a bit lighter. I think the white might make it look like a line down the center and so stick out.

Definitely go with the lighter, it’s a nice colour in the same hue. What are the items you’re using to hold the waistband for blocking?

I know which ever one you choose will look beautiful!

On my phone the dark one looks best. In real life…you’ll know which one to choose. You are good at colors!
