Most knitters are familiar with straight blocking wires but sometimes we need curved or flexible wires. I have a set of curved blocking wires and I meant to bring them because we need them for Nicole’s Hitofude.
She ordered some and they arrived today. I love them!
These blocking wires are vinyl coated where mine are just wires. These also have plastic tips over the edges so they don’t snag the knitting.
Because of our new minimalist efforts, I probably will not order a set for myself. The ones I have work, though they aren’t nearly as nice as these but . . who needs two sets of flexible blocking wires? Not me.
But, if you don’t have flexible wires and you think you may need some, I highly recommend these. As soon as I get a few fires put out around here this morning (bath bombs made for Addie, pumpkin roll made for Nicole, come up with something for dinner), I’m going to block Nicole’s Hitofude and I’ll show some pictures of the wires in action.
Can the curved wires also work for straight wires and you only need one set?
I don’t have either and would like to get some soon.

Not as well. For things that need to be straight . . they need to be STRAIGHT! These are flexible and wouldn’t give you as straight of an edge. Depending on what you make, if I were only going to have one set, I’d have straight. Things like lacy shawls, sweaters with round edges . . that’s where the flexible wires are great.
If they are a lot nicer you could buy them and donate your old ones to your knitting group or someone who might need them. Not sure when you are driving back so I’ll wish you safe travels now!

Judy, would you consider writing a post on blocking – why it’s done, how…, or post a link to someone else‘s explanation?
Is weaving in the ends a pain to do or boring?
I love the container they are stored in! I have a set that has both straight and flexible wires, so I don’t need another set either, but they sure are cute!
Where did you order these wires from?
I don’t even know anything about knitting and blocking and wires, and you made me want them for about 30 seconds. LOL
