Grits for Breakfast

When Addie woke up this morning, she said “Granny, let’s have grits for breakfast!” I told her that was fine with me. I was kinda surprised she wanted them and wondered if she really liked them or had seen something on TV about them.

I dug around in the pantry, halfway expecting not to find grits but I did find some. Addie said “Cheese but no butter, please”. She ate a bowl of unicorn cereal while I was fixing the grits so I was pretty sure she wasn’t going to want grits by the time I got them made but she ate them all.

I told her all that counting to 100 last night must have made her hungry!

She told me that her daddy fixes her grits for breakfast so I guess that’s where she learned to like them. According to Addie, her daddy is perfect in every way so if he likes it, she’s going to like it too. Makes me happy to see her liking grits. I had a bowl myself!

Aww. This stopped me for a moment of appreciation.

How sweet! I remember my daddy was the best man and greatest father anyone can have! I know where she is coming from.

Several years ago I found a plaque for our granddaughter that said, ‘I found my prince charming. I call him Daddy’. It’s wonderful for Addie as well as our grand one!

Cheese or butter, I’m good with grits – my husband grew up in the NE and had them with maple syrup – not my favorite way, but I can do that, too.
