Yesterday I began going through project bags to make my UFO list for 2018. I came across this?
There was no indication in the bag what this project was intended to be. Since I knit from Knit Companion and don’t print the patterns, there was no pattern in the bag. I went to my Ravelry projects. Nope, not listed there either.
This yarn was in the bag.
That didn’t offer much guidance but then I remembered . . thank goodness I have just a bit of memory left . . Leftovers Cowl. I had done a blog post about it almost three years ago. I didn’t get very far in three years, did I?
This is the pattern. I really love it and I really want to finish it.
Here’s what I was thinking. Do any of you want to do this as a group project? There are 505 rounds so if we tried to do 10 per week, we could finish this in a year. I’ll work on it in the next few days and see how long it takes to do 10 rounds.
In the older blog post, I mentioned Loopy Cakes (please go back and read that post if you’re interested in doing this). Right now, Sheri (The Loopy Ewe) has all of their solid series yarn for $6 per skein (220 yards). That’s a heck of a buy! The Loopy Cakes are $38 for a set of 6 – 100 yard balls. So, with the cakes, you get 600+ yards for $38. Buying them individually, you get 1,320 yards for 36. Quite a few of the colors are sold out in the individual 220 yard skeins so you may need to supplement with some cakes.
As I understand the pattern, you need 1300 yards of Color A and 1300 yards of Color B. Color A and Color B simply mean background/foreground. In some rows A will be dark and B will be light and vice versa.
You can use fingering weight scraps. I believe the designer mentions that variegated yarn might not create as good of a contrast/definition as more solid yarns.
Anyway, I’m going to finish mine in 2018 and I would love to have some company working on this project. I’m not listing this as one of my UFO projects because this isn’t going to be a one month project but . . it will be finished by the end of 2018.

That is VERY cute (but also looks VERY complicated!!). So glad you found it and figured out the pattern before ripping the stitches out. I’ll look forward to seeing the finished product (also guess there’s a TON of ends to work in-UGH!!!
