We have beans! Not ready to eat yet but at least I see beans!
You can’t believe how happy I am to see these beans. The garden this year has tried my resolve! After last year’s total failure at gardening, and getting loads and loads of free rabbit poop this year, I was so optimistic. Between getting too much rain at once, then the usual dry spells, then the hail, I was so hoping for a great garden. At least the beans aren’t letting me down.
Yesterday evening I was out working, it was getting to be dusk and Vince walked out to the garden. He looked around and said “Is there anything out here to munch on?” I told him there was asparagus, potatoes, squash, carrots, beets, cabbage, onions, kale . . that’s about it. I think he was wanting snow peas and they’re gone, but it was funny him standing in the garden and looking for something crunchy to eat.
It looks like at least we’ll have beans but I’m still holding out hope for pumpkins, okra, cucumbers, sweet potatoes and lots of tomatoes! I don’t think this year’s garden is going to be terrible!

Hang in there, Judy. Some years are more trying than others. What constantly amazes me that the veges that are a challenge one year, aren’t the ones that cause a problem the next. It’s a surprise every time. The veges look good and I look forward to hearing how anasazi’s taste. I’ve not grown those and might have to try them if you endorse them since you seem to get me into all kinds of things I wouldn’t have considered. Plus, I thought anasazi beans were speckled which yours obviously aren’t. So, you’ve already taught me something else.

Anasazi beans are speckled – the beans themselves, not the pods in which they grow. Sorry, I cannot accept credit for teaching you something new today. 🙁
Deborah Kuykendall says
ha! oh yes you can. That’s even more interesting. The pods look like green beans.

I have always heard farmers expect one good crop out of seven. Having farmed in years gone by that rule seemed to be in operation for us.

It’s nice to see good news from your garden. I love seeing your harvests.

It sounds like you have quite a bit growing now, and coming on, so I think it will be an okay year, if not the bumper crop of everything … but Anasazi beans! That alone would make me call it a good season. =) Did you just plant Anasazi, or is there a seed bean other than that?
Dorothy Matheson says
I only have a few bush beans and so far one nice picking. Two green squash and a batch of tomatoes setting on now on the two bushes. So few plants this year compared
to others. But then I had back surgery and could not work the garden.

Thank you for adding me back in!!!!
