What do you do for breakfast? Our breakfast habits have changed through the years and aren’t always the same but I love having a big breakfast and sitting down to chat. I think of things after Vince goes to sleep that I want to tell him or I wake up with new ideas . . though sometimes he doesn’t want to hear my new ideas. He’s real tired of any of my ideas that cost money or require extra work for him.
Too often, breakfast is a piece of toast and cereal with a bit of fruit but my preference is a big breakfast, a smoothie for lunch and then a nice dinner fairly early.
We still have a few years before Vince retires but I think the one thing I’m looking forward to most after retirement is being able to have leisurely breakfasts and not feeling rushed.
With fresh sourdough starter, we love having sourdough waffles. Last night I made the sponge and got out all the ingredients so it would all go as qiuckly as possible this morning and sure enough . . breakfast was on the table by 6:30.
The waffle iron didn’t get filled completely but hey . . what do you expect when it’s still dark outside and I haven’t had a Dr. Pepper? 🙂 In addition to getting our breakfast done, I scramble 4 or 5 eggs each morning for the dogs. They have to have breakfast too.
Yep, I’m really looking forward to being able to sit and talk for a few minutes and then fix breakfast and sit and eat without being rushed.

Yummm breakfast… while weekday breakfast is usually a latte and orange chocolate chip scone from the coffee shop near the office, breakfast is my most favorite meal to eat out. Give me a Granny’s omelet at Perkins and hashbrowns and I’m a very happy camper!

I would get up for that breakfast! YUMMY.
I typically have a 3 egg white omelet w black forest ham1 oz (maybe) and mushrooms and Spinach. Coffee! one pot please, w 1/3 c powdered skim milk for my creamer, fresh or frozen strawberries blue berry combo, w 1/2 cup Fat Free Cottage cheese. I do Weight watchers and that is a 4 pt (maybe 5 w the ham) breakfast. Sigh I haven’t had a waffle in a long time. NOT A home made one in YRS!!!!!!

I love steel cut oats in a small crock pot with a time, and they are ready when I get up! Add diced apples, cranberries, a few pecans oh and maybe a little brown sugar!

I can’t even imagine wanting to cook anything at that time of the day!

I usually have a two egg omelet with eggs from a local farm, and spinach wilted in a little bacon grease, with some kind of berries on the side. Other days I’ll have a small bowl of oatmeal made with flax seeds with a pat of butter sprinkled with walnuts and topped with blueberries. If the scale lets me, I add a very small amount of maple syrup. On Sundays, we have gluten free waffles with fruit and bacon (from the same farm. My gosh, it’s good, like the bacon we could get when we were little kids.)
When I’m on the road, it’s gluten free chia or quinoa granola and fruit.

I’m with Patti – I love steel cut oats. But today it was a homemade blueberry muffin gifted to me by a friend. I like biscuits and gravy but only do that on rare occasions…blessings, marlene

I’m also a steel cut oats fan (made ahead and frozen the way you did them) and a piece of toast. One day it’s bacon and eggs and sometimes it’s cold cereal with banana. I love to eat a big breakfast out and snack for lunch with a moderate dinner too, but most time I do not take the time to eat a totally balanced meal 3 times a day.
