Mittens would have been our first project and Nicole has her mittens done except for the thumbs but I forgot the yarn at home for my mittens so Sunday we started our hats. The requirements for the hat were:
- A designer new to you
- Sport or DK weight yarn
- Use at least 175 yards
After a couple of changes of the minds, we decided to do Quail Run by Taiga Hillard Designs. The pattern is easy but with so much activity here, I can’t tell you how many times I messed up and had to rip back. I am happy to have this finished! Nicole, the beginning knitter, made less mistakes than I did and finished first!
We both used Skein DK yarn. The color for my hat is Thistle.
The color for Nicole’s hat is Envy.
Our next project is Father Time Cowl. We cast on 300 stitches last night and got started. It should be easier and interruptions shouldn’t cause quite so many problems.

WOW!! Those hats are GREAT!! And you’re right, Nicole’s looks just as good as yours. I love the design/pattern as well as the colors both of you chose. They’re so pretty! Sounds like Nicole is VERY well-rounded..hunts, knits, sews, cleans, cooks AND a great mommy. What more could Chad ask for? LOL

Love both patterns and Nicole is doing a great job, especially as a fairly new knitter. I had thought about joining in on Loopy Academy but glad I didn’t. Will enjoy looking at yours and Nicole’s pictures! Enjoy your time there, I know you are.

aw now see it’s been fairly easy to not get bitten by the knitting bug because sweaters + hotflashes = no bueno! But these hats and that cowl are SO cute! And things I could use even with the dreaded hot flash…. 🙂
I’m off to sign up on the Ravelry site…. and probably Craftsy to learn to knit 🙂
Good job ladies! And Addie is getting so big! And cute as a bug!!

Great looking hats. Both of the colors are so pretty. Are you making the cowl for the men in your life – since it is being modeled by a male? Nicole is doing great as a beginner knitter – heck, she’s doing great period.
