This pattern is really calling my name! It’s Wanderling by Isabell Kraemer and I love her patterns. I had already ordered yarn for it but I’m not sure that’s what I want to use. I think I want it to be darker . . more “rustic” looking. With Camp Loopy going on . . no, the June project is not finished but it’s almost finished, I can’t order yarn so I have two choices:
- Wait and see what the August project is going to be and maybe I can order yarn and make Wanderling for the third project.
- Find some stash yarn that works.
The problems are:
- I want to make it NOW!
- There are too many other projects started and not finished (The color block shell for Laura, the Vitamin D for my friend from her llama yarn, and Nicole’s Blue Sand Cardigan).
- I just don’t have sweater quantities of yarn in my ‘not assigned to anything’ stash.
- There are beets that need to be pickled!
This morning I dug out the Bugga tub and dug through there. This really needs 4 skeins of Bugga . . 3 would just so barely make it that I would be afraid to start it with 3 older skeins because I couldn’t get a perfect match if I needed a 4th skein.
There are three skeins of the lime green and three skeins of the pinky purple (Love Bug). There’s always the yarn I got specifically for Wanderling.
What should I do?
- Start Wanderling, using the salmon colored Mrs. Crosby yarn when I finish the June Camp Loopy project.
- Wait and see what the August Camp Loopy project will be and order more yarn.
- Get over it! Finish up the other sweater projects before starting anything other than Camp Loopy projects.
Just for the record, I’m not bound by your votes. I can still do what I want! 🙂

Use stash yarn and start whenever you want. Vince will be so proud so when you do order more yarn you can say But I’ve been using out of my stash so………( like he really cares). Seriously you’ll be making more room for new yarn by doing this project from your stash. Have I convinced you yet?

I would order more yarn, but that’s just me! 🙂 There are no knitting police. You can start as many projects as you want. Nobody is going to arrest you if a project hibernates, because you started something else. Consider it an award after you take care of the beets… Feel better?

Just thought I’d point out that you live in Texas. And it’s June. And the sweater is long-sleeved (yes, that can be altered). You probably won’t wear it until Christmas. That said, I’m not a fan of pink, so definitely order more yarn. I like the emerald green sweater in the pictures….

I think you should order the yarn you picture it in, not start it in a different yarn. I am never satisfied when I think “dark” or “rustic” and start it in something else.

Wanderling is in my queue too. There are so many patterns I want to start – probably have 10 WIPs but I’m not counting! I bet most of my queue and favorites are also on your list. When I fisrst started stashing yarn I bought 1 skein because I liked it and wanted to knit socks. Wish I could trade some of it for 2-3 skeins of the same yarn for sweaters. It’s too bad knitting projects don’t go as fast as piecing quilts. At least not in my world.

Rotate the projects. It helps ease the boredom.

Knit what you want. Buy what you want. Knit them all at the same time if you want to. Life is short!!!!!

Ditto!

Start it in a color and yarn that you want to work with, even if that means ordering more yarn. You won’t be happy with it otherwise! Another option for the Bugga: use the three pinky/purple or lime green skeins, then put another contrasting skein with it (looks like you have plenty to choose from, lol) and make the sweater color-blocked or striped.

I’ve been sitting here laughing all through this post because I’m exactly like this with my quilting. I’d say make it with the yarn you already bought for it to “scratch the itch,” and if that just doesn’t cut it, then go ahead and order the yarn later. Do what makes you happy! Life is way too short not to.

Knit Wanderling with me for Project #2. Although I really think project #3 is going to require more yardage so it probably would be better to wait until then.

I’ve already ordered my yarn for Project 2 so maybe I’ll do Wanderling for #3 or you and I can come up with something we can do together. 🙂
