It’s Border Time! My favorite part of the entire quilt!
You will need 48 nine patch blocks. These will measure 3″ finished or 3-1/2″ unfinished.
Step 1:
- Fabric 4 – Cut 8 – 1-1/2″ strips
- Fabric 1 – Cut 4 – 1-1/2″ strips
Make 4 strip sets as shown below. Cut these into 96 – 1-1/2″ segments.
Step #2:
- Fabric 1 – Cut 6 – 1-1/2″ strps
- Fabric 4 – Cut 3 – 1-1/2″ strips
Make 3 strip sets. Cut these into 56 – 1-1/2″ segments. NOTE: Put 8 of these aside for the next lesson. ANOTHER NOTE: Save the unused portion of the third strip set for the next instructions.
Step 3:
Assemble the segments into the 48 nine patch blocks as shown above.

Thanks so much, Judy! These I could do in my sleep, I think. =)

Judy we have been on vacation for a while and missed your Sept 2nd and 9th viewing of other quilter’s quilts and your calendar won’t pick it up. Did you change something while I was gone, or quit posting them. Thanks, Mischaele

Judy, in the computer generated version, the center block had white vs a yellow center. I realized when I sewed mine together that I hadn’t made a unique center block and all of mine are the same. I must have missed that in the instructions. Still, I am really happy with the way this quilt is turning out. Thank you for taking the time to do this and sharing the directions.

They’re all supposed to be the same. The center in the computer version is colored incorrectly.
