Big & Bright Pattern

If you know the words to the song, Deep in the Heart of Texas . . the stars at night are big and bright and that’s so true.  So, with these big 16″ stars . . this quilt is named “Big & Bright” and can be found here.

I had hoped to get way more done before sharing the pattern but I did get a block made and

While working on the 144 flying geese, I was wondering if I’d made a mistake with offering this pattern but once that block was finished and I saw how pretty it is, I’m loving this design.  There are only 12 blocks, the pieces are fairly large and once you get those flying geese done, the rest is quite quick.

Thank you for sharing another quilt with us. On step two I don’t see any amounts for flying geese. Did I miss something?

Thanks for sharing another great quilt pattern Judy — I’m thinking I’ll make four stars into a baby quilt.

Judy ~ Love it this block & quilt! Of course, star blocks are my favs! Doesn’t look to difficult just lots & lots of “geese” to assemble. I was going to work on my Sing a Happy Song quilt today for the quiltathon but had to detour a little. Needed to design & make 2 Heart Blocks for comfort quilts for 2 guild members that are seriouly ill! I hope the completed quilts will give warm thoughts of so much support & promote much healing!

Hey! I love this block — it’s really striking! And I’m warming up to flying geese. And it has nothing to do with heading south. 😉

Thank you for the pattern Judy, I have been searching for a pattern that was appropriate for a very mature nine year old grandson and I think this one will do perfectly. I love it!

Wouldn’t this work for a quilt for a veteran? I’m thinking red and blue for the star and white for background. What do you think? Love this pattern!!

I love this design and would like to make it. I don’t see the size of the flying geese units, only the amount to make. Did I miss that in the directions? Thanks for sharing this wonderful pattern.
