Taking the Weekend Off

There are so many things that need to be done but I have not even been downstairs to my sewing room once this week, and maybe not even last week either.  I fixed breakfast this morning and told Vince and Chad . . that’s it!  No more cooking the rest of the weekend.  There are lots of leftovers in the fridge — chicken marsala, veal piccata, steak with PW’s blue cheese cream sauce, smoked brisket — plenty of stuff in the fridge and if that’s not enough, there’s deli meat and a package of brats in there.

Meatballs for tomorrow have been taken out of the freezer. Spaghetti sauce is canned and just needs to be heated up.  A hunk of dough from the 5 Minutes a Day bucket will be pulled off in the morning.  Mozzarella, basil and tomato salad will take 5 minutes to prepare.

No kitchen duty the rest of the weekend for me!

The peaches can wait.  There were three cases.  I gave one case away and made more chutney yesterday with half of the top case.  Before going to bed tonight, I’ll probably slice up the rest of the top case and put them in the dehydrator.

There are more cucumbers to pick and pickles to make.  That can wait!

There are tomatoes to pick and can.  There’s basil to cut and pesto to make.  But all that can wait.  I’m going to spend the rest of the day with this very dependable friend!

Yep, this is all I plan to do for the next day and a half!  Sew, sew sew!

    Yay! She’s sewing!

Did you like PW’s blue cheese sauce? I thought it was the best thing I ever ate. I swear my knees buckled when I tasted it. I can eat it with a spoon. Joe? Not so much.

I’m so jealous – I’m spending the day cooking, cleaning, and packing for our summer vacation, and thinking longingly of the next project. At least I’ll be able to spend some time on hand-quilting while I’m in the car…

Your recipe for the blue cheese cream sauce sounds wonderful. In fact, I’ve made a trip to the grocery store to get the cream this afternoon – it’s on the menu for Sunday to go with the steaks we were planning to have. DH loves blue cheese and onions, so I am sure he will be pleased. I’m glad you are getting sewing time – I’m on my way to the sewing room now for some time making the fabric wallets for my DIL.

I’m with you… I haven’t done any sewing in nearly a week and am having withdrawal. Sewing is the plan for this afternoon!

I think it is astounding how much time you do spend in the kitchen. And the yard. And the garden. And taking care of animals. It’s terrible how deprived you’ve been of your stitching time. Maybe that declaration of Weekend OFF should be made more often 🙂

I finished sewing all the blocks for your mystery quilt! Can’t wait to see how you’re laying them out. I have my idea on my design wall: anniesquiltorts.blogspot.com

Good Monday Morning Judy – Please post and let us know how “taking the weekend off” worked out !!! When I have good intentions for my weekend, they usually end up totally different than planned. I did make Chocolate, Hazelnut Gelato that was fantastic.

I know exactly how you feel. I haven’t done anything for me in almost a month! Life truly does get in the way.
I can’t comment on your half year gone post so I’ll say it here-thank you! sometimes it takes someone totally outside our sphere of influence to make the lightbulb come on. Mine is glowing right now.
