Fabric Rag Dolls

Jessi had been telling me about these dolls made from fabric strips and when she was at the house last time, she and I made them.  The lime green one is for me and the purple/aqua one is for a friend of hers.

Jessie suggested that next time I send quilts to the children’s home, I can send matching dolls for the girl quilts.  Wouldn’t that be cute?

Those are neat! They look like the yarn dolls I remember making as a kid, but much cooler.

    Those are too cute.

I had forgotten about making yarn dolls. Good memories.

OH, yes…they DO remind me of the old yarn dolls…but these are much more colorful. Very nice job….and why am I not surprised that the lime green doll was for you??? LOL

Those are really cute. DGDs had some of those when they were small. Got the at some kind of pioneer days thing. They were supposedly copies of antiques. Go well with quilts and our girls enjoyed them. Made me think of the hankie dolls that have been played with in church in the past.

They look simple but effective. Are they hard to make?

here’s a similar instructional on making these dolls. They are cute and I really like the idea of sending one’s to match the quilts!

also, I would ‘pink’ all the edges on the strips to keep them from fraying terribly 🙂

We made dolls similar to these when I had a Scout troop years ago. the girls had so much fun. We used unbleached muslin then they added embellishments.

A friend of mine made me one like that, but out of muslin. AND she had wings! A bit of spanish moss for hair, a chenille stem for a halo, and a cord for hanging. A lovely, primitive looking angel! I like the colorful ones, as well. Fun stuff, and another way to use up stash ;-0

Wow, those are cute and would be terrific to go with the quilts for kids. Sounds like you are enjoying Jessie 🙂
