Do you ever wish there was a Good News TV channel? Nothing but good news. It could be as simple as puppies going to the bathroom outside, a new tab for online classes, a puppy re-arranging quilt blocks, scenes from a flea market, and the list could just go on and on. Couldn’t you see the correspondent interviewing Linda about her new puppy and the house breaking efforts; or Mary’s new online classes and tips tab on her blog; or Penny tumbling around in Vicky’s quilt blocks; or Jaquelynne’s finds at the flea market? Wouldn’t that be a breath of fresh air to hear only good news — happy, funny news? Not going to happen I’m guessing. Ever wonder why for the most part, the only news reported is bad news? It would seem to me that the world would be a happier place if more good news was reported. I don’t get it.
Want to hear the good news coming from the channel that covers my house? Really, there’s not a channel that covers my house — please don’t anyone think there’s a big truck and satellite sitting in front of my house.
- My camera came back . . fixed . . with no note or reprimand about the sticky foreign substance in there; fully covered by the warranty!
- A memory stick adapter that I found downstairs works in my laptop so it isn’t the drive that’s broken but the adapter must’ve been worn out.
- At 10:00 this morning, I didn’t have a clue what I was fixing for lunch. I kept thinking . . eggs . . use eggs! They’re coming out my ears. Then I remembered that I had broccoli and ham and I made a yummy quiche . . from things just sitting around. Oh, I added mushrooms too. It was really good!
- Found a mistake in a pattern I’m teaching next week. That could have been bad news if I didn’t see it til next week but I found it tonight so I was able to fix it and re-print the page with the mistake. That’s real good news!
- The loudest thunder I’ve heard in a long time woke me up real early but it stopped raining before time to go let the chickens out. I wasn’t planning to go out while it was lightning and pouring rain but they’re ready to be out once it gets daylight.
- Went to Wal-Mart and got everything I needed. I was expecting it to be crowded since it was the 2nd of the month but the store was halfway empty. Got what I needed and got out pretty quickly.
- Took a 2 hour nap! I don’t get to do that often enough but just couldn’t help myself this afternoon.
- My dad called to tell me he loved my new boots. We had a good visit.
That’s just a portion of the good news from today! Sometimes when we’re feeling kinda down and like our luck is running on empty, we may just need to make a list of all the good news in our lives.
And, in the meantime, I’ll continue to wait for that Good News TV channel! Maybe I’ve been sewing in my basement for too long! 🙂

Thanks for the good news! I was able to re-arrange 30 cases of water to get the oldest out front to be used first. I finished a quilt for my grandson and made real quilting progress on my granddaughters bed quilt. That is a little of the good news from this neck of the woods….weather beautiful to boot!

I love good news!! Our news channel actually has a segment on good news!! Love that part of the news cast – but you’ve got to hear what is going on in traffic if your going out and the weather – always have to hear the weather1!
I am trying to think of my good news happening today…. like yours, alot of little things that add up to just making it a great day – * Got to go get groceries today. I kept putting it off and then a friend was going so I tagged along, got that chore out of the way!! And I am very thankful for it.
*Figured out my daughters birthday things….. that I am Very Thanful for!!!
* Put in a job appliction today. If I get it – Great!! If not, at least I finally put it in!!! 🙂
* The weather is still gloriously hot!! We are finally getting our summer weather and even though it’s unexpeted, I am liking that it’s not freezing out there anymore!! (okay, it will be soon, but we are focusing on GOOD things here!!!)
* That reading this post, then telling my good thing(s) has made in a much better frame of mind!!! Thank-You!! So, another good thing, and if I keep thinking, I will have tons more!!
So, what I got out of this little exercise is: Constantly think of all the things that have gone right today!! And tell everyone about it!!!!!

Oh, yes, I like that Good News Channel idea! I think we all can use some good news these days.
* My good news today is that my stamina held out through all the preparations for a house guest’s arrival –and even through losing my grocery list causing me to go home and start all over. I’m really tired now after dinner, though, but sitting here reading my bloglist is reviving me.
*Also, I’m thankful to have the funds for groceries, as I know it is a tight time for many people.
*Also, the quilt repair project for a friend is not as complicated as I expected. It is a beautiful quilt, and I’m enjoying working with it.
*Yippee! I just learned that DH and house guest are going to a breakfast meeting in the morning, meaning I can sleep in a tad and have a leisurely cup of coffee in peace. 🙂
Hope you have a good news kind of day tomorrow!

“. . . so I was able to fix it and re-print the page with the mistake. . .” ? ? ?
I have a grin on my face as I am typing this. I know you mean you printed the page “without” the mistake, I just found it funny to think you found the mistake and then printed it (with the same mistake) 🙂

Love the good news!!!!! You know, sometimes when I’m done watching the news on TV I give a great big sigh. Just everything reported seems awful. I am now coming here for my morning news!!! Better way to start the day. 🙂

some good news from my corner…we only have to pay garage rent this month, the apartment is free because we signed an early lease renewal. even better news is that this is the second month this year that we’ve gotten this great deal.
got my Summer plants cleaned up out of my porch planters and swept the porch. found the two crickets that had been keeping us up at night, so they are history.
ordered some new books for nighttime reading that have 5 star ratings, so they should be comming in next week.

Judy–loved your blog today, it made my morning and I’ll try to remember it today as I clean house getting ready for my obsessive about clean sister to arrive tomorrow. We all have so much to be thankful for and glad about! I have a new puppy (almost pottie trained), I got to quilt yesterday and my family is coming to visit. And, I hope my camera comes back today from getting fixed.

Hey Judy, have you heard about the new keyboard that can actually be put in the dishwasher to be cleaned? I saw it about a week or so ago on Good Morning America & immediately thought about you & Dr. Pepper (which I love also).
Thank you for the good news. . . . here’s hoping that there is even more good news for you today!

There IS a “good news” web site…I don’t remember the address. It used to be free & I visited quite often. Last time I looked it was a subscription site…..guess you have to PAY for good news!! LOL

Perhaps that is what I love about reading blogs – tuning in to people and what is going on in their lives… I much rather read and read blogs than watch TV. 😉
how about we all do a Good News weekly post ? 😉
Love from Texas! ~bonnie

I try to live my life with an attitude of gratitude. If anyone is struggling, start out with a gratefulness journal. Simply list 5 things daily for which you’re thankful, and you’re not allowed to repeat any entries. Within a short amount of time you’ve trained yourself to recognize all the blessings in your life!
Thanks, Judy, for this happy reminder!

You are so funny. I do have such a good boy who potties outside! There is indeed a good news site. It’s called Happy News. http://www.happynews.com/ Good news, all the time! I do love coming to read your blog. There’s always something fun going on.

Good News, or at least Neutral News, is really “up there” on the list of Reasons Why I Participate in Quilt & Other Groups on the Internet.
Granted, when people experience personal catastrophes, they *need* to share it with us for support, but that’s not the same as hearing nothing but horrible stuff from everywhere, all the time.
Of course, “news” is kinda defined by being out of the ordinary, special, unusual. It’s just become “special and unusual” in a negative sense, esp. since the so-called news cycle went 24/7. The websites are falling over themselves to find “new” stories every 90 or so MINUTES, it seems.
Way long ago, Ladies, back in the Dark Ages, “news” was either on the evening TV, the AM radio station in the car, or the morning (or afternoon!) newspaper. You could catch up with the “news” in 15 to 30 minutes a DAY and be relatively well-informed about the state of the world. Weekly magazines rounded out the “news diet” of information junkies, like me.
Now, it’s amazing amounts of negative stuff, just like our Chicken & Quilting Maven says.
My good news is that my 5-year-old dog ran his head into the dog-sitter’s truck today, knocking himself silly for a few minutes, but is OK and back to his silly self this evening! And my 9-year-old dog is acting like a puppy again! She’s just a great little girl. 🙂

Hi Judy,
I loved this blog! We all can use some good news for a change.
Is there anywhere on your site where you post the location you will be teaching and what you will be teaching? I may have just missed it.
Keep up the good work!
