Quilt Market Report #3

Just before market, someone sent me a link to Florine Johnson’s Radical Roosters.  I looked at them online, decided they were way too complicated for me and moved on.  One of the first people I came across at market was Florine Johnson.  She is so cute!  And, she and her helper were wearing the most adorable aprons, which of course had an appliqued “radical rooster”.

The minute I saw the rooster patterns in real life, held them in my hand and talked with Florine, I knew I had to have the patterns.  These are the happiest, most cheerful roosters and I can’t help but smile just thinking about them.

Like the other designers I had a chance to visit with, Florine is such a precious lady!  She’s even cuter than are her rooster patterns and they’re pretty darned cute!  Despite my begging her to make the rooster blocks for me, I never quite got that deal from her but I can’t wait to start on my own roosters.  I only hope I can do justice to her wonderful designs.

Thanks to Florine, I can have roosters that do not crow!

Aren’t they fun patterns – I have looked at them over and over – contemplating buying. I really like the newest momma chicken too. I’ve got a bunch of the patterns sitting in a “cart” on a website that I haven’t hit the order button on yet (having a debate with myself as to whether I truly need the patterns) . I may lose the battle and have to place that order — but at lest it’s only patterns and no fabric included in my order and it would be a great way to use up some of the the batik and hand dyed stash! How’s that for justification — I NEED them to enhance my stashbusting efforts. 🙂

I saw her too! We have chickens and I love roosters (won’t keep them though – they fight…) so was drawn to her booth. The best thing about her patterns is MODA carries the background chicken wire print – WooHoo!!! I’m sold!

How ironic! I have been looking for a “rooster” pattern for my BF and this is perfect. I’ve bookmarked her website and am sure I will be back. Thanks Judy.
