Another day, another adventure! :) Last night I was watching a medical guy that I like and he was talking to Dr. William Davis about a type of yogurt that is made using L. Reuteri instead of the usual probiotic bacteria (lactobacillus bulgaricus, streptococcus thermophilus). Right off the bat, I heard that it is not technically a yogurt. It's a fermented dairy product but has similar benefits ...
Stitching Day
Today (Wednesday) was stitching day with my friend. I enjoy these days so much! When we first started getting together, we started at 10 and stitched til 4 p.m. Lately, we've decided we needed more time and started meeting at 9 and stitching til 4. Some days, we hardly get any stitching done but we talk about stitching non-stop. She finds the best things on Instagram and she will show me things ...
Defrosting the Freezer
For my entire adult life, I would only buy a big freezer that was not frost free. I still believe they're better for the food and have less things to go wrong but they are not better on old ladies! Our newest freezers are frost free and I'm very thankful for that "technology" - even though they've probably been around since I was a child. Yesterday was freezer defrosting day. It was warm ...
The Heat is OFF Again!
The heater repairs lasted three days! I guess it was good while it lasted. :) Vince talked to the repairman and he will be here Monday. He said it could be "this" or "that" or it could be both. It's sounding like we'll need a new unit and I'm not sure those are easy to get these days. Towards the end of next week, we have night temps in the mid-teens. I've been asking to change out the unit. We ...
Hot Cocoa Mix Recipe
This is the recipe for hot cocoa mix that I've used for several years. We like it. I do use whole milk powder that I get from Azure but the brand that is linked in the recipe is good too. If using whole milk powder, make sure it has a long "best by" date. I used all I had here for the hot cocoa mix, picked up a package at Walmart just to have some on hand until my next order from Azure arrives, ...
For the Love of Nature Progress
I'm making progress on For the Love of Nature by Teresa Kogut and I hope to have this finished by Christmas. I'm unrealistically hoping to have it finished by Wednesday when I meet with my stitching friend again. Since I've shown it last, I've stitched a lot on the deer. Poor guy! I still need to stitch a front leg and the back legs just have one "leg" of the stitch done. I stitched part of ...
