This morning Vince wanted pancakes for breakfast so I milled some flour, made pancakes and bacon. After we ate, I went downstairs, took out 6 or 7 bags of frozen veggies, got them in the freeze dryer. I’m trying to use up or freeze dry as much as I can of the things that sit in our freezers since now we’re short one fridge/freezer and even though we have a loaner to replace the kitchen fridge, the loaner is a side by side and the kitchen fridge has a bottom pull out drawer which, I think, holds a lot more than the side by side. Plus, without an ice maker, we’re using ice trays upstairs and the portable ice maker downstairs. All that to say, I desperately need to use up, or at least get some of what’s in our freezers out. Elderberries are going to be ripe soon and I freeze those before I shake them off their vines and that takes up a lot of freezer space.
After I got that done, I got a ham ready for the oven and started it baking at 325. As soon as the baking dish was hot, Vince said “Do you want to go see Chad today?” Well, of course I do! Vince called Chad and they were out working on something; said they had no plans for the day so we got in the car and drove to Nevada. We probably got there about 10 and left about 3 so it was a good visit. Nicole and Addie had made cinnamon rolls and they were coming out of the oven just as we got there. Perfect timing! Vince and Chad went to some old guy’s house – he was selling all kinds of tools and . . best of all for Chad . . cast iron!
Now we’re home. No stitching has been done. Vince is out cutting grass. I hope he remembers to put string on the trimmer for me. If not, the weed cutting will have to wait for another day.
No stitching so far but a good day getting to visit with Chad, Nicole and Addie. Addie is almost 13 and she’s decided she wants an old pickup when she gets her license (at 16). That’s all she did . . stayed on the phone looking for an old truck. “Dad, will you pay $15,000 for a truck for me?” Chad: No! Addie looked at Vince and he had that deer in the headlights look. She said “I guess that means NO from you too!” Poor Addie . . the teen years are going to be tough. I’m glad it’s them and not us dealing with Addie and her wants/needs. 🙂

I was in Nevada two weeks ago. A lot has changed. My niece lives on West Wight street. Glad you enjoyed your visit with Chad and family.

I can’t believe it either. She’s taller than Nicole and probably close to as tall as Chad. She’s muscular and looks very athletic. She cracks me up. She was so mild mannered and wouldn’t stand up for herself or what she wanted when she was young but now, she has A LOT to say! 🙂
