During Maynia, in addition to stitching as much as I can, I also want to get some pieces fully finished so today was working on that.
The first one I worked on is A Sampler for All Seasons by The Scarlett House.

The lacing takes forever! I probably have the threads too close and could leave a bit of distance and make this process go faster.
For now, it’s just plopped into the frame and not secured with the points. I look at it as I walk by and make sure it’s as straight as I can get it. I can still manipulate it a bit to get it straighter. I see several spots that need to be moved a bit

As much as I love borders, when it comes to framing, I think I dislike them a bit more each time.
The piece below is probably the first piece I finished. It was in 2021 so it’s been sitting around for quite a while.
When I finish stitching, I immediately baste along the line where I want the frame to fit the piece.

I think you can see the basting threads long the bottom and side. Then I press the piece along that basted line and once the foam board is cut to that exact size, the piece kinda just hugs the edge and makes the lacing a bit easier.
This chart is A Good Marriage by Lizzie Kate. This was started in January, 2021 and I got back into stitching in December, 2020 so this was my first time stitching on line and it’s a 32 count. I’m so glad I got back into cross stitching!

It isn’t laced yet. You can see that without a border, it isn’t going to be nearly as fiddly to get it perfectly straight, or at least to appear to be straight.
Tomorrow will be a stitching day. I may work on this on the 5th or 6th, that will give me two framed pieces by the end of the first week of Maynia.

Judy, do you use glass in your frames? How about mats or spacers? I’m afraid without glass that my fabric will get dusty.

I don’t always use glass – no real rhyme or reason as to when I do or why I don’t. If it’s something hanging near the kitchen or eating area, I do use glass. Mostly, since we’ve thought we weren’t staying here, I’ve avoided hanging things on the walls except in the basement family room and bedrooms. When I do use glass, I use the museum glass because of the sun on the main level but in the basement, there’s just a bit of morning sun and there’s a deck above the windows so I haven’t been using glass. I do try to dust things and haven’t noticed them being that dusty.
