First, thank you responding on the “Things to Buy” post. Good ideas mentioned in those – about the flowers too.
The new bins for storing the linen arrived yesterday, a day early. I had already been rolling some of the linen up on the comic book boards so I immediately got started adding the linen to the tubs.

This one bin is just for XJu linen. For at least three years, I was in her linen club and accumulated a nice collection of her gorgeous linen. I believe I could stitch everything I want to stitch using XJu’s linens but, of course, I have other linens too.

There was a question about whether the bins were tall enough. They are . . they’re pretty much perfect. Once I got that first bin loaded, I showed it to Vince and said “Look how perfect these bins are!” He said “Of course they are. I found them for you!” Vince, Vince, Vince!! He did find them. I got frustrated looking, gave him the width, length and height I was looking for and he found them.

It will be so much easier to choose linen when I have a new project. I start with the called for floss, find a linen I like and then if there are floss colors that will not show up well on the linen I want to use, I’ll sub that one out for a floss color that will show up.
I will not have a bin for each brand of linen. There are a few brands that I have more of than others and I may try to keep those together but it really doesn’t matter. I usually have an idea of what color I’m wanting to use – darker tan, lighter tan, yellowy off white, tan off white, gray, etc. The color matters more to me than does the brand/dyer.
It will be a while before I get all the linen where it needs to be. I want to get some projects finished and it’s going to be a while before I will be starting new projects that don’t already have linen pulled but it is nice to at least have the linen re-organization project started.

That looks great! Almost considering doing that with my fabric. Right now it’s on boards in 2 drawers but I could use the drawers for something else. Hmmm…

These bins may fit under beds if they’re the taller bed frames. I originally thought under the bed might be a good idea but they’re pretty heavy when full and we only have one bed they will fit under. I’m going to put them on the lower two shelves of a metal shelf unit and that way I can “slide” them out, get what I want and slide them back. I don’t want to stack them because always, whatever bin I want to get into will be on the bottom! 🙂
Having your fabric already on boards will make this super easy and, as you say, free up drawer space.

Thanks! I wish I could stitch faster so I could use more of them! It’s been fun going through the linen. Some of it I remember buying. Some of it I remember trying to get it for quite a while before I was able to get it. Building a collection of linen has been quite different than it was when I was building a collection of quilt fabric!
