You all know I am no expert at choosing colors. I have always wanted to use my own colors, whether sewing, quilting, knitting and now cross stitching. Most would not love the colors I love. Don’t get me wrong – I love Brenda Gervais’ pieces and there are times when I look at a chart and realize there’s NOTHING I want to change about the colors.
If I’m going to change colors, if there’s a DMC conversion, I’ll start with that and try to match up Vikki Clayton Silks to the DMC colors. Then, if I need a color that’s a bit lighter or darker or brighter, I’ll add another color.

These are the colors that ended up in my box for Hope and Love.

There were 10 called for colors. I ended up with 25 colors in my box. I only used 10 but as I would pull what I thought would work, then realize it wasn’t perfect, I’d get a different shade of the same color. I love this one and it gives me confidence that my color choices are acceptable.

Your color choices look great. I bought the pattern too but haven’t even started it yet. It was designed by Teresa Kogut. I love Brenda Gervais designs too.

Yes, I was just saying that I rarely change Brenda Gervais’ colors but I often change at least something by other designers.
