I’m not complaining. This is getting a bit comical – especially since it’s Vince’s package and not mine.

First, the package was picked up in Memphis TN on 2/13. Not sure about the postal service route, but I don’t know that I would go to Georgia from Tennessee if I were going to Missouri but maybe they like to travel more than I do.
From Georgia, it went to Texas. Wait!! It’s 782 miles from Austell, GA to Grand Prairie, TX and it’s 721 miles from Austell, GA to where we are. Almost the same distance but still 364 miles from it’s intended destination.
Then it went to Kansas City, where it arrived today but they’re saying it will not be delivered here until the 21st. Want to bet?? There will probably be no mail at all on the 18th, 19th and maybe not even on the 20th because of “inclement weather”. Then it will arrive in Springfield, MO where it may sit for five days. I’m wondering if it will even be here by the end of February. Both KC and Springfield seem to be places where packages go to sit and wait and wait.
I’m definitely not complaining . . like I said, we’ve just accepted that this is how our mail is going to be and, no one can/should complain about weather delays. The interstates between KC and Springfield will probably be closed tomorrow and maybe even Wednesday. We’re going to have some nasty weather for a few days BUT if this package had not taken the scenic route, it would already have been here. I do feel bad for people who have packages they really need.
I was talking to my naturopath this evening and she suggested a new supplement for me and she put the order in. I told her . . I am not even going to pay for it until the weather is better and all the packages that get backed up have been delivered. I’d rather it be sitting in a warehouse than on a truck or in a USPS distribution center somewhere for weeks.
The good news is that no matter how long packages have taken, they’ve always arrived . . eventually.

I’m totally flabbergasted at how BAD the postal service has gotten the last few years. Everybody in our neck of the woods is complaining about packages/letters/any mail taking circuitous routes from original shipping to half way across the US and back again. With all the “computer” improvements, INCREASED postage charges, etc., it’s truly unbelievable how bad it’s become.

We just had a package leave Escanaba in the upper peninsula of Michigan and travelling to the northern lower peninsula of Michigan that visited Wisconsin, Illinois, Ohio, and two cities in Southern Michigan before arriving. ?

The head of USPS told the board to find a successor. He is stepping down. Over due!

I had not heard that but it gives me hope. As disgusted as I get with them, I can’t imagine how difficult it must be to efficiently run such a huge operation. But . . it HAS to be improved. I talked to a friend in Louisiana yesterday and she was talking about how bad the postal service is in their town. Our local post office has been really good lately. The people are so nice when I call about lost packages. I hate that when I go to the USPS website and fill out a form, it goes back on our local post office . . even if the package hasn’t come close to our town yet. I usually call the local post office first because they can see more than I can see online. For a while, our carriers were putting our mail in boxes that were near us and we were getting mail that belonged to other people but the carrier we have now, and her backup carrier have been doing a great job of getting mail in the right box. I have to laugh at feeling like they’re doing such a great job . . doing what they should always do! 🙂
