For hopefully the last “my entire family is crazy” post for today, here’s one more. A week or so ago I wrote about finding the New Year Sampler that I had started in December, 2021. Another one from those very early days of cross stitching.
When I came across this project bag, it had no floss in it. I looked everywhere for floss. I was pretty sure that when I bought this chart, I ordered the floss from Owl Forest too. After spending several hours, maybe more, looking for the floss, I decided it wasn’t worth it so I’d just re-order the floss, which now comes from England. The floss wasn’t expensive but the shipping was pretty expensive.
This morning while waiting to go to the vet, I had an extra few minutes so I decided to put this on a scroll frame. I went to press it from the back side and I thought . . that REALLY looks like Vikki Clayton silk. I took it to where I had better light and I was certain it was Vikki’s silks.
I looked back in the blog, because I usually write everything in there and found this post from December 24, 2021. In there, I wrote: “For floss, I’m using Vikki Clayton Silks. The chart lists DMC colors and I used the list on Vikki Clayton’s sight to do a conversion.”
Oh, great! I was not using the floss I have on its way over here from England.
I’ll keep searching for the box but I went ahead and ordered the silks again. The only potential problem is that I changed out the flesh color for a darker color and I can see that it says “Mystery” on it. I often buy a pack of Vikki’s mystery bobbins when she has them available. Reading farther down on the earlier blog post, I even wrote about that. Good Judy. Now why didn’t I keep it all together???
There are enough different colors in this project that no one will notice if I had used the lighter flesh color somewhere, but from looking at the photo above, I don’t think I had used that color yet.
I now have the linen on a scroll rod and once Vikki’s floss arrives, I’ll be ready to get back on it. My goal is to stitch at least 5 motifs each month. We’ll see . .
What are your thoughts?
