Last night I finished MH 1860 by Needlework Press. This project was done on Vikki Clayton’s new linen, which I love. It was so easy to stitch and I really like the way it feels. The color is Yamp Up and the floss is Vikki Clayton’s silks. This was started on November 9 and finished on November 23.
This is the chart:
When I first started this project, I talked about some things I was going to change. It bothered me a bit that the house and things around it are not centered within the border. It is centered under the 1860 and that makes some sense so I left it as it was. Another thing that bothered me was that some of the motifs seem very crowded.
I ended up changing a few things:
- The rabbit – he seemed a bit crowded on the left side of the house so I moved him to the right side.
- The initials – My was over on the left side and seemed crammed in there so I moved the “M” over by the “H” on the right side.
- The two baskets were nowhere near lined up horizontally with each other. I moved the basket on the right up a bit.
- The flowers on each side of the building. I changed the blossom part a bit so they weren’t identical (since not much else was identical on this chart). I also moved the flowers out one stitch so they weren’t touching the house.
- Large heart on the left – I moved it down a bit so it wasn’t was a bit more centered for the space.
- Without the rabbit and the crown (I think it was a crown) on the left, I added two dogs – a brown and white spotted one (Oscar) and a black and white one (Cooper).
About two-thirds of the way done with this one, I wasn’t sure how I felt about it but now that it’s stitched, I really like it. I love the happy colors. I’m hoping I have a frame here that I can use to get this fully finished but, if not, I will get something ordered and get this one on a wall.
