You may remember that when we moved here, we had a neighbor behind us that I really liked. The man was super friendly and always noticing what we were doing and would come over if he thought Vince could use a bit of help. When Vince first met him, the first thing the guy said is “I thought younger people would buy this house.” We never let him forget that he said that. He also had two little boys that I loved!
Then . . they moved! 🙁
When they lived here, the dad had the two big planters that he built for growing peppers. Every year he would make bottles and bottles of hot sauce and give them to friends, family and . . neighbors. It’s HOT but we loved it.
We ran out a while back and I thought about asking for his recipe but I knew he had worked hard to get to the current recipe and I didn’t want to make him feel bad for saying no so I never asked.
This morning I had gone to the farmers’ market and came home, checked the mail and there were two bottles of hot sauce in the mail box. I had the man’s number still in my phone so I called him and said “When did you come by here?” He now lives at least three hours from here. He told me that he still comes back here a couple of times a year to do some work. He had been here a few days this past week and dropped it off for us on his way out of town last night. I asked him about his boys and he said they were doing great.
I think he knew I was very happy to talk to him and to get the hot sauce. Such a nice guy! Such good hot sauce!

No. He probably doesn’t even know I have a blog (and wouldn’t read it anyway).
