At least for the foreseeable future, cross stitching is my favorite hobby but I’ve been knitting a bit lately and really enjoy it. We’ve had a couple of short road trips without the dogs and I was able to knit in the car.
This is the last photo I have of the project and it’s from June, 2023.
I had hoped to have it finished for this past winter. Didn’t happen. I doubt it’s finished for this coming winter either but I am going to get it finished . . some day.
At this point, I have about two inches left to knit before I get to the ribbing at the bottom. Then I’ll have the sleeves and it will be finished . . some day! 🙂
I was watching a flosstube the other day and the lady was also a knitter and she shared several pairs of socks she made from this book:
There’s no way I’ll knit a pair of socks in a week – probably not in one month but 52 sock patterns for less than $15 was a deal I couldn’t pass up.
When Addie was in kindergarten and first grade, she said the only socks that kept her toes warm were the socks I made for her. Yes . . wool vs. most store bought socks. Yesterday I was at the dentist and that place is probably the coldest indoor place I’ve ever been. I knew to wear a jacket but even with that, I was freezing and my toes were aching. I thought . . I’m taking Addie’s advice and wearing wool socks next time I come. I asked them if I could bring a lap blanket next time and they said yes. But, I haven’t knitted socks in a long time and they don’t last forever so I do need to add a few pairs of knitted socks.
The plan is to finish the black sweater before I start a pair of socks. It will be interesting to see what Cooper and Oscar think about the knitting yarn. I think I can slip the skein under the slip cover and they may not even notice that it looks like a fun toy.

Last month I discovered my local library has sit and knit the 2nd Thursday of every month. It’s from 3-5. I work until 3 but decided to take the little knitting that I have and join in. I have lived back in the town I grew up in for 6 years now and I don’t really know anyone. Covid made it impossible to get out and meet people right after I moved. The group was about 5 ladies and 1 child. They were crocheting, doing embroidery and knitting. I had not picked up my project in months so I had a hard time starting but did manage to get 4 rows knit. The group is wonderful and I can’t wait to go again next week. I will still always be a quilter, but knitting is portable and I really would like to learn more about it. Can’t wait to see your finished project.

I’m glad you went and enjoyed it. I’m loving getting together with the knitting group and then one on one with my friend.

Oh, I wouldn’t count on those two not finding your ball of yarn! Remember the photo I shared of the mess Kayce made of my yarn! I still keep it hidden in a bag and if I’m outside of any length of time, I put the bag up high where she can’t find it!

You’re right. No matter how careful I am, I’m betting they will get into it at least once.

Thanks, Judy, this is just what I needed. Did you see that there are volumes 1 and 2?! I think I’ll ask for them for Christmas. I mostly cross stitch in the evenings, but recently took out two skeins of yarn to start on a Prismarine scarf. I’m trying to finish up the last project first. Not sure why, but as I get older I’m enjoying just a few projects at a time. The current cross stitch project is kicking my behind… probably because I’m tired at night and because it is Newcastle Bouquet by Teresa Kogut. 🙂

I did see that there are two volumes. I decided to start with volume 1. If Santa brings you volume 2, I’d love to hear what you think about it.
