Vince needed something from town today and I wanted to get some DMC from Hobby Lobby and I wanted to get some paint from Hobby Lobby. I think I mentioned that I had ordered this sheep a while back. I want to paint it and glue magnets onto him and then I can swap out whatever stitched piece I want to display on him. The patriotic star that hangs around his neck can be swapped out for something Christmas or Fall or Spring or Easter. The lady who does the wood has the colors listed that she used to paint him so I made a list of paint and DMC needed and off we went.
Her list is all Delta so I go marching off back to the craft area and . . they don’t even have Delta paint. They have all kinds of paint but not that brand. I was looking online – checking Michael’s, Walmart, Amazon and Vince came to see if I was ready to go yet. NO!! He said “What are you going to do?” like it was a BIG decision. I said “I’ll just pick out other paints!” So I was looking online at the model sheep and figured Spice Brown is what she used for the little scooter he’s on; the oyster white is for the sheep, etc. so, together we picked out colors we thought worked and then, big as day, right in front of us was this big “conversion sheet” that showed what colors were close to the same as Delta paints . . a cross reference sheet I suppose you would call it. I think we had a couple of colors that were the same and a couple that were different but we stuck with our choices.
Then we got our DMC and checked out. Of course, Vince did find a few things he NEEDED! Do I go in Harbor Freight and find things I need? No.
We got in the car and Vince said “I didn’t know you knew how to paint.” I rather loudly choked back a laugh. I said “I don’t know how to paint!”
Vince: Then why did you buy paint?
Me: Do you want a naked sheep sitting on the hearth?
Vince: No, but what if it doesn’t turn out right?
Me: Good grief . . there can’t be much to it. If I mess up or don’t like it, I’ll sand it down and start over! I’m not even concerned about it.
I really am not concerned about it. I am concerned about the Crackle Medium but there’s a girl who works at one of the flea markets and I’m going to go talk to her before I start this project and she’ll give me some pointers plus there are YouTube videos so . I’m not concerned . . I’m pretty anxious to do it. I would like to do it inside the greenhouse – out of the house and safe from bugs but I’ll have to wait til it gets a bit cooler.

Hmmm… does that sheep have all it’s legs????

I wasn’t going to bring it up but . . it kinda looks like he has two legs but I think he’s very graceful and has his front legs and his back legs completely aligned so it appears to be one leg but, I do believe he has four legs.
