You may think I’ve always blamed others for my failures, missteps and total lack of self discipline. Nope – my parents never accepted that it was someone else’s fault when I did something I shouldn’t have done. They would always say “If she jumped off the bridge, would you do it too?” I wish they hadn’t used “bridge” in that example. Maybe I can blame my parents for my bridge fear. 🙂
I know I make my own decisions so I’m not really blaming anyone else . . but even Vince will sometimes get the mail and if I have a package, he’ll say ” Did Denise make you do that?” Yep! Always Denise! Sometimes he will say “Have you ever met Denise?” YES! And I keep trying to get her to move to MO and be my neighbor. Oh. . that could cause serious issues! Never going to happen so we don’t have to think about it.
Anyway . . she wrote me the other day and told me that she was going to start this chart. Her exact words were “I may have lost my mind and ordered this chart.” It’s Flowers of Quaker by Rosewood Manor. I looked at it and said “No, that’s not something I would enjoy stitching.” I don’t do well with things that aren’t all lined up and kinda “square”. Give me houses, symmetrical borders, the same flower and vase on each side of the house, and I’m ok. This Quaker I’m working on now (Friends and Family) is way more difficult for me than it should be. My brain just doesn’t do well with diagonal stitching and motifs that aren’t “square”. Then I thought:
- The kit includes Valdani floss which I’ve never used and it would be fun to try.
- Once Denise starts stitching it, I’m going to wish I had done it.
I wrote her and said “Do you know if one could stitch with one strand of Valdani on 40 count linen? Asking for a friend.” She responded on what she thought I should tell my friend . . which was basically “maybe”.
You can read Denise’s post/version of this incident here. The best news is that I now have my first entry on my 2025 calendar! February – Start Flowers of Quaker with Denise!
My kit is ordered and has been shipped. The planned start date is February 1. I told Denise that we’ll probably all be yearning for flowers by February. If anyone else wants to jump on and stitch this with us, it would be fun. At least with me stitching along, you know you wouldn’t be the last to finish it.
Don’t tell Denise but my goal is to finish before she does. Impossible . . I know . . but I’m going to give it my best shot . . once in my life to finish something before she does!

Ha ha! I read Denise’s post yesterday too. I knew you were doomed. It made me laugh.

She’s a great friend and everything I say about her is joking. I do wish she would move here and be my neighbor but she has family near her and no matter how hard I try, family seems to rate higher than I do! 🙂

We are going to have such fun (don’t we always). 🙂

YES! I’m hoping my kit arrives tomorrow but I’m betting it doesn’t come til Saturday or even Monday. I am going to try one strand on 40 count and see how that goes so I’ll know if I need to find 36 count or 40 count.

..That is such a pretty chart. I’ve just got too many projects laying off to the side to even think about it.

Sheryl! Do it! You’ve got until February to finish some projects.

I really like that chart. I haven’t done any cross-stitching in years, but that one actually tempts me a tiny bit…

I think we’ll all be looking forward to stitching FLOWERS in February! Order it and stitch with us in February and we’ll help you along.
