Near the end of 2023, I said something like . . the first project I’m going to finish in 2024 is Farmhouse Christmas. It was one of the first projects I started (in early 2021) after getting back to stitching in 2020 after about 30 or more years of not stitching. Obviously, that is not what happened!
I had good intentions and that counts for something, right? Not long after Christmas, 2023, I knew I had to get it out and get started or I wasn’t going to do it so I started looking for it. I have a bit of a system for WIPs but I couldn’t find it. I spent more time than I should have looking for it. I knew where the frame was with the piece in it but I couldn’t find the project bags with the charts and floss. I briefly considered ordering new charts and floss but I didn’t want to spend $6.50 each for the six charts that still needed to be stitched, nor did I want to buy all new floss since I had it . . somewhere. I went on and worked on something else but for at least January and February, every time I’d see a spot where the Farmhouse Christmas project bag might be, I’d start searching again but I never found it.
Earlier this week I met a lady from the Springfield QOV group and gave her quite a bit of fabric and two full rolls of batting. The batting had been shoved into a corner standing against the wall (it was all in plastic wrap – had never been opened). There were a couple of storage ottomans in front of the batting but they mostly had non-cross stitching things in them. Yesterday I decided to go through those because I want to empty them and get some kind of shelf unit to put in that corner. I went through the ottomans and .. guess what was in there! Yes, the project bag with all nine charts for Farmhouse Christmas and all the floss.
I thought this was my oldest UFO but it isn’t. On the list is one from 2020 (I know where that one is) plus three more from 2021. I’m not going to be crazy and say I’m going to finish all of them soon but they now are in my head and I’ll keep thinking about them and maybe get them done.
I have stitching plans for August and September so Farmhouse Christmas will be my October project and will be what I stick with until it’s finished. I know the width of the project since I’ve stitched across, but I may stitch down to the bottom and get the length so I can get a frame ordered and . . maybe . . have this on the wall by Christmas. Stop laughing!!

I think it’s an excellent plan for October. I think I will plan to pull out my Jack Frost’s Tree Farm to stitch in October so we can have ourselves a Little House Needleworks stitchalong.
