Since I’m kinda winging this project, I’m stitching it a bit differently than I normally stitch projects. First, as you know, this chart, Friends & Family by Fox & Rabbit is shown in one color. I’m going by a photo of a project beautifully done by another stitcher. I really cannot make out exactly what colors are where, some spots are harder to see than others so I’m sure mine will not be exactly like hers but that’s fine. Her colors are what caused me to want to stitch this project and I’m thankful that she shared her colors, which I converted to Vikki Clayton Silks. Second, the chart is shown without a border but the lady whose finished project I fell in love with has a border. I couldn’t make out the exact number of stitches, especially at the corners, so I’m working in a way to help me figure it out as I go and not get a massive amount of stitches done and find out I’ve done something wrong.
I’ve gone all the way across the top so I should be able to finish the framework of the top border and see if it’s all going to fit.
I’m not sure if I’ll go back and fill in the rest of that top row or start down the side and kinda outline the motifs, somewhat like I’ve done at the top. Most often I will stitch the borders first and I feel like I need that structure. Not having the border makes me feel like I’m going to color outside the lines or something. But, I do love how each motif is so pretty and I love seeing them come together.
I guess I need to get over to that left side of the top and make sure it all works out before I worry too much about the rest of the border.
