Oscar has turned into a picky eater. I think he likes variety. A few months ago, he wanted Cooper’s puppy food and Cooper was wanting Oscar’s food. I figured Oscar was getting tired of the same food every day so I bought a different food for him and have been mixing them. At first, he wanted the new food but now he seems to not want either one of them.
He will pick out what he doesn’t want and spit it out but, at least for now, he goes back and eats it all.
He will only eat with his food bowl on the ottoman and I have to be sitting beside him. Monday, I was busy and I thought . . you’re going to have to eat without me sitting there watching you and I was working on getting things done. He never did eat his morning food so I took it away because I can’t let Cooper out til Oscar is finished with his food. When it was time for dinner, I figured he’d be starving and gobble it down. Nope, I was folding clothes and mopping the tile floor and Oscar sat there and didn’t eat. Vince came down and hand fed him a few bites and Oscar seemed happy to have Vince sitting by him so he ate. Vince said “Why is spitting some of it out?” I told him . . he doesn’t want it but he’ll come back and eat it when he’s finished with the good stuff. Yep . . that’s what he did.
He’s definitely a hard headed little guy!

My three doxies only like one kind of dry dog food and two kinds of wet food. It’s a waste of money to try something different. I had a coupon on a variety pack of a different brand of wet so I bought it. I mix the dry with wet and add chicken stock to it. Yes they are spoiled. Anyway two ate theirs after sniffing it for a while. The third ate about three bites and just stood there, so I figured she was saving it for midnight snack (she does that sometimes and knows the word snacks) so after their last walk of night, I asked if she was ready for her snacks, she came to me to put bowl in. Front of her, she ate one bite and was done. She sat down and looked at me as if to say” this isn’t What I. Eat”. Put. Her down and took leftovers out to creatures of the night(raccoons, etc) to eat. We will see if it’s the food or her being picky.

My cat used to go around the one flavor in the cat food that he didn’t like. (Meow Mix I think). You would go out and the dish would be all of the one flavor. It was too funny. I know other critters came in (the food dish was in the garage, because he was an outdoor cat) and ate what he didn’t.
