It arrived yesterday. It seems that we cannot have an appliance delivery without issues. You remember the dishwasher story. When we got a new fridge for downstairs, the delivery guys banged it into a piece of angle iron that was clearly not in their way and then they hit the freezer with the fridge and dented it so the fairly new freezer was damaged and the new fridge was dented. No big deal . . they both still worked fine.
Then we got the stove for the basement and the big box store where we bought it, as a discounted stove because it was the last one, sold it to someone else and without talking to us, found another almost similar stove and had it delivered but somehow between there and here, one of the front legs was completely broken off so it could not be leveled. We ended up with a much nicer stove.
The fridge today . . we had paid all of .01 (one cent) to have the doors switched to open on the right side. When we bought it, we were told that this big box store is no longer using third parties to delivery appliances . . it’s done by their employees. Not true. Apparently they are in the process of switching it all to employees making deliveries. My guess is that neither of the guys had ever switched fridge doors. They took it off, put it on; not right. They took it off and put it on again. Oops, where do these parts go? They took it off and put it on again. When they left, I looked at it, I told Vince . . the freezer door is not on straight. Vince found two washers and a screw that apparently got left off . . ridiculous! It’s rather lopsided looking and the gasket is not hitting in the right spot. Vince called the store. They’ll send someone out to look at a week from Wednesday. I’m sure it will all get worked out and I’m sure lots of people have bigger problems.
I did get it a bit organized. All those bottles we rarely use but every now and then we need them so they’re all out in the garage fridge now and that frees up space in the kitchen fridge.
All the little bins are in there. I dislike drippy, sticky fridge trays and these bins help and they make me feel like I’m winning the “keep the fridge clean” battle.

I always have to get the door on the clothes dryer switched because of the way my laundry room is set up. I actually had to teach the last guy how to do it…sigh.

I went out once when they were working on the door and heard Vince say “Don’t you need to do “something” first?” and the guy said “Oh, yes!” I really don’t think they had ever done it before and instead of looking at the instructions, they unscrewed everything, took it apart, were going to lay the fridge door down on the concrete garage floor and Vince said “NO! I have these rugs for that!”
Poor training and lack of customer service. I hope that’s the last appliance we ever buy but you can bet if we do buy something else, it will not be from Home Depot. Actually, the best customer support we’ve had was from the local appliance shop who didn’t hook up the dishwasher correctly. They were even less expensive on the fridge we bought but they wouldn’t get it in for 4 weeks and I know that 4 weeks may well mean 8 weeks and we were desperate for that fridge.
