I should have taken a picture of our yard when we got home. It rained and stormed and rained and stormed . . several times while we were gone. We were lucky we didn’t have any damages. They had to cancel this month’s Food Truck Friday in Carthage because the park has so much damage. There are so many trees totally uprooted or with the tops completely twisted out, and way too many houses with tarps on the roofs, as well as fences down from trees falling. It makes me so sad to see all the damages to houses. Not only is it scary but it’s such a hassle to get repairs made these days – trying to get workers and supplies!
But our grass looked like it hadn’t been cut in weeks and Vince cut it right before we left. The mosquitoes are terrible so getting the grass cut short and getting water dumped from anything that was holding water should help with the mosquitoes. I’ll start weed eating tomorrow . . it will take me several days to get it all done because I can only do it for an hour or so and my arms are tired (and would rather be cross stitching).
We went today and bought groceries. When I’m here every day and cooking, I know what I have on hand. When I leave for a few days, I totally forget what we have here so I made my menu, then made my shopping list. I didn’t need a lot but needed to get back on track with menu planning and cooking.
Tomorrow is our sit and stitch day at the shop nearby. I had planned to go but I have a scratchy throat and the sniffles so I’m not going. There are a couple of people there who have health issues and, even though I feel like it’s allergies from having spent a week in Louisiana but I’d rather stay home and not risk sharing a cold or worse with someone. I wrote the shop owner to tell her I wasn’t coming because I had said I was coming and this is part of the note she wrote me back.
That made me feel good. She was probably thinking . . you talk so much, it will be very quiet without you there! 🙂 I told Vince that I wasn’t going but I was going to sit downstairs and stitch all day though I have to make meatballs and sauce for Sunday’s spaghetti and I have to get weed eating started. Who wants to bet I spend the entire day doing everything EXCEPT stitching?

I was wondering if you had any damage while you were gone – glad to hear you did not!

I’m glad I didn’t know how much storm damage there was around here til we got home.

I was concerned that you didn’t post for a while that you might have had some really bad damage. I am glad that you were able to visit your family. I missed your post while you were away, and I don’t cross stitch.

I had wondered if you were not posting because of the storms. There were some really wicked ones that came through Missouri over the last week or so. Fortunately for me, the storms have gone either to the north of us or to the south. It’s horrible for those people, but I’m thankful our area hasn’t had a lot of damage other than a few branches down here and there.
