I had mentioned that it was going to rain yesterday, today, Friday, Saturday AND Sunday. Yesterday it started raining before I was ready . . bad Mother Nature! I ran out, in the rain, a added blood meal to the garlic and before I had even finished, the rain stopped. That was it for yesterday’s rain. The sun came out and it was a beautiful day. We knew there was going to be a lot of rain today and there’s supposed to be a lot tonight and tomorrow.
Last night, our local weather guy said that we may get “A LOT” of rain and over the next few days, he wouldn’t be surprised to see 4″ inches. Well . . I think it started raining about 4 a.m. That’s the first thunder I heard. By 11:22 a.m., we’ve had 5.26″ of rain.
There is so much water outside already. Cooper and Rita will use puppy pads. Oscar . . NO!! We put straw on the patio during the winter because rain falls through the deck spaces and freezes and makes it slippery. Oscar will go on the straw instead of going out in deep snow so after trying to coax him out in the rain, in the chest deep water for him, and then trying to convince him to use a puppy pad (NOT happening) . . I had a thought . . I could take puppy pads, put them down in the garage, put straw on the pads and maybe he would go on that. YES! That worked. He peed but he wasn’t doing more so the first time it wasn’t pouring, I grabbed him and we went outside from the main level. The front yard didn’t have as much standing water just outside the door so we did that. He’s good for now. It’s still raining but not pouring. Vince said we should have a break from about 12 to 2 and most of what’s out there will drain off and maybe I can get him out again before the next round of flooding rain starts.
The good news is that for Oscar, using a puppy pad means he’s going to the bathroom in the house and that is something I think he absolutely will not do unless he’s sick or worse. Will Cooper ever get to that point? I’m kinda doubting it. Oscar has not gone inside the house once since he was 5 months old. Cooper is 9 months old and . . carpet, tile, grass, garden . . it’s all the same to him. He’s gotta go and he doesn’t seem to have time to let anyone know or walk to a more convenient spot. 🙁

..I wonder if the hating rain and water applies to the doxie breed. Bugsy hates both!

Maybe. I don’t think I’ve ever had a dachshund who would go out in heavy rain. These two will go out in a light rain where Speck would look out the window, even in Texas where it rarely rained but he always looked out because he was NOT going out if he was going to get wet.
