Last night was the first time in many, many years that I was in bed before 10 p.m. I was so tired but we had a busy day. I started out early working in the garden – did a bit of weed eating, fertilizing, pulling weeds. Rita had her annual exam and shots so we had to be at the vet at 9:30. Did that, needed a few things from Aldi so we ran to Carthage ate lunch a the hospital, then bought groceries, came home, got those put away.
Then I went outside and worked a bit in the front yard. I cut a big bowl of lilacs to make lavender jelly.
All those little flowers had to be pulled off the stem.
i needed about a quart of blossoms and I got those picked and cleaned.
They are steeping overnight and I’ll make the jelly today.
Then, it was time to take Cooper to the vet for one vaccine that I had not wanted to give him til he was older so we went back and got that. When we got to the vet, I saw my friend’s truck in the parking lot so I went in expecting to see her but it was her husband. I would like to have had a few minutes to chat with her but Vince really needed to talk to him. His business is designing and installing solar systems. We have a small project going on here and Vince had needed to talk to him so they sat and chatted and Vince got his questions answered. That was nice.
We’re having more deck work done – that deck is turning into a never ending project! I worked to get my garden work done before they got here because I didn’t want to have to be walking under the deck while they were working. They’ll be back . . not today thought. I think it’s a three or four day job and today was day 1.
Then I fed the sourdough so I can make bread tomorrow.
We took the dogs out to play in the “playground” this evening. Cooper runs and runs and runs til I stop him because I’m afraid he’s going to hurt himself. He LOVES being outside and running. Oscar loves playing fetch with a ball but Cooper is happy to run as fast as those little legs will carry him . . just run . . that’s what he seems to love most.
One thing I did not do yesterday – didn’t take a single stitch. Today, other than making bread and jelly and fixing a meal or two, I hope to sit and stitch.

I had to laugh when I read that you had lunch at the hospital in Carthage. I worked in Health Care for 40+ years and you’re the only person I know that actually likes to eat in a hospital cafeteria!

No! The cafeteria in Carthage is packed every day at lunch. The food is really good – one of the best places to eat around here. If you don’t get there right at 11 when they start serving lunch, you likely will not find a place to sit.
