Chad and Vince were supposed to go fishing today. Nicole was working this weekend so Addie called me yesterday and asked “If I come down with Dad tomorrow, will you take me to Sephora?” I told her yes . . even though you know how much I don’t like shopping. Then she asked “Can we eat at Cane’s?” which is where we ate last Saturday when they were in town. Again, I said yes.
Chad and Addie arrived at our house at 6 a.m. this morning. Chad and Vince immediately left to go fishing. Addie curled up on the sofa upstairs and went to sleep. I went downstairs and played with Oscar and Cooper til they were tired, put them back in their crates to snooze a bit and I stitched maybe an hour but I then felt like a nap would be nice so I went back to bed for an hour. I had asked Addie if she wanted to go to the farmers’ market with me and she was happy to go but I figured she needed sleep more than she needed to follow me around the market so I let her sleep. She woke up about 9:30. I had wanted to get to the mall pretty much as soon as they opened (10 a.m.) since it was Saturday before Easter so once Addie was awake, we left for the mall.
As we got to the mall and were walking in, Addie said “There is NOT a Sephora store in the mall.” I said “Your mom said there is.” She said “Mom does not know!” Well, thanks for telling me that now after we’re at the mall. We walked around the Ulta store. I had never been in one and I was impressed. Yes, the things that Walmart carries were a decent amount more at Ulta but they had Bare Minerals and Clinique, both of which I like so I got a couple of things. While we were in there I googled Sephora to see if there was a store in Joplin and there is a section in Kohl’s, which is just across a side street from the mall so we went there. Addie had a list on her phone, along with prices, of the things she wanted to get and not go over the cash she had. Addie spent all her money (and a bit more). Next we made our way to Cane’s to eat lunch.
She was a happy girl – a Sephora haul and chicken from Cane’s. From there, we went back to the mall because Addie wanted boba tea from a place in the mall and they weren’t open yet when we first were there so, one more trip by the mall. It was already about 12:30 by then and the mall parking lot was still close to empty. Maybe that was still too early for mall shoppers but I was expecting it to be very busy today.
JoAnn had DMC for .50 and I thought about walking down there but decided I’d rather go home so I didn’t do that.
On the way home, we stopped at Crumbl and we each got a cookie.
I was quite happy to get home a little before 1:00. Addie sat in the sewing room with Boots for the longest time and read her book. Then she would come out and play with Oscar and Cooper til they got too crazy for her and she’d go back in the sewing room with Boots. She helped me get Rita’s nails cut so that was nice. I believe all the pets were happy to have time with Addie.
I say now that I will be in bed early tonight but once I start stitching, it’s hard to find a stopping place.

Sounds like you and Addie had a great day together. I know you’re enjoying all the time you get to spend with her.

Sephora is usually in JC Penneys, too.
So glad you got to spend the day together!

Thank you. I just checked and there is one in Penney’s.

She has grown up so much! I remember the pictures of her when she was so young! She was so shy around us. She is turning into a beautiful young woman. I know you are all proud of her.

She’s still shy around people she doesn’t know. I think of you often and hope you’re doing well.

What a great day with the granddaughter! I too like Ulta. Our Joanne’s in the mall in Sierra Vista is closing. 🙁

Is it closing as part of Joanne’s bankruptcy filing? I have been wondering if it would affect many of the stores or if it is mainly financial reorganization.

I haven’t heard that the store here is closing. I think the 50 cent sale on DMC was in all stores. I ended up not going so I can’t say for sure this store isn’t closing.
