With almost every order I place, and wait and wait for its arrival, I get more apprehensive about ordering anything. Maybe Vince is collaborating with the post office to lose my my packages so I will stop ordering!
I have a package from Fat Quarter Shop that is taking forever. I think it’s been over a week since it was mailed and it’s been sitting in Kansas City without moving for three days now.
This next package pretty much gets the prize this week for the most well traveled package. It’s a used book and it wasn’t expensive and it isn’t something I can’t live without so . . when it gets here, it gets here so I’m laughing about it. They do, or they have in the past, always arrive at some point.
The screenshot is small but the package arrived at Kansas City on the 24th and then in Springfield on the 25th. That’s all normal and good. From Springfield, it should have arrived in Webb City. But it went to Carthage and then to Webb City. Still not bad. I live less than 5 miles from the Webb City post office. In fact, that morning it showed it was out for delivery. Since our packages often get delivered somewhere in the neighborhood and not always to our house, I try to make sure packages that are “delivered” are actually delivered to our house. Vince got the mail and came in and happily said “No packages today!” Hmmm . . I’d better check that. Nope . . from Webb City, it actually went to Sarcoxie, which is somewhere in our county but I’m not even sure where. It spent the rest of that day moving around from the Sarcoxie Post Office to the Sarcoxie USPS Facility to the USPS Destination Facility. Sarcoxie is a very small town and I doubt there are three separate USPS facilities there but . . I can’t say for sure.
Then, it went back to Springfield, which is where it apparently is now.

Annoying isn’t it? I ordered a book that ended up in Des Moines for 2 weeks and didn’t move so contacted the seller (Walmart) who promptly cancelled my order and issue a refund contrary to my wishes. Book has never arrived but it may. Or may not. I then ordered a bunch of Magic Tree House books from Ebay for our grandson and they got stuck in Des Moines for over a week. Every day it was 2 or 3 different scans that it had either arrived or was departing Des Moines. It did finally move; to Bakersfield, CA! I figured it was lost for good then and received no further updates until it arrived in our mailbox 3 DAYS LATER!!!! I live 3 hours east of Des Moines and it couldn’t get here but it was delivered on the 3rd day after being scanned in Bakersfield. It’s “fun” to compare our horror stories but wish it was a “fun” we could forgo.

Ye good ole post office. I have a package that was out for delivery on March 12th, got my emails, my text and all the goodies that go along with tracking. That evening it said insufficient address and was being sent back to the sender. Called my local post office they said oh it will be delivered the next day–no go. Still no package, have contacted them–they say oh the address is correct on the scan bar–just not on the package–asked why don’t you just use that–oh we do sometimes–well it is now the 27th, I haven’t received it, and neither has the sender. I totally loathe the post office for so many reasons.

Last week I finally received an Etsy order that had been in transit for three weeks. It was mailed from New Jersey and went somewhere that I don’t remember, then it was in Oklahoma City. Great, I should have gotten it the next day. Nope, then it went to Iowa and then somewhere before it made it to St. Louis where it sat for like 9 days before it made it back to Oklahoma and then to me. No wonder our stamp prices keep increasing. It is all the extra traveling!

I can’t even imagine how they get as much right as they do but at some point, getting as much wrong as they’re doing isn’t acceptable. Complaining does no good and those to whom I would be complaining are not the ones who can change anything but it seems like a failing system, like so much that government has its hand in and I can’t even imagine what we will do when we can’t count on the post office at all. I feel that day is coming .

My thought (which is just my opinion), post office might want to “justify” the HIGH POSTAGE rates that keep going up by sending our mail all over the country, LOL.

You never know. It does seem kinda weird that it’s happening all over the country and not just a few locations. We’ll never know.

In February, I sent a payment to Georgia with a guaranteed two day delivery via a post office competitor. My payment took a leisurely tour of Georgia for over two weeks. It passed through Atlanta where it was going 10 times as it passed between cities all over Georgia. I was so upset.

Crazy. So, it isn’t just the post office!

Our Post Office delivery is awful. We have a P.O. Box. We’ll go three or four days with no mail, not even junk mail; my husband will ask the postal worker if there’s a problem with delivery and is told “no”, and then the next day our P.O. Box is completely stuffed with mail. His weekly sports magazines are routinely delivered two weeks late. When I order items and track shipping, I can see that my package has been delivered to the Post Office yet after it’s supposedly been delivered, it may be three days until we receive notice that it’s ready to be picked up. I was aware of an invitation that was sent to me; other invitees who live within six miles of us received their invitations ten days before mine eventually arrived. Upon comparision, all invitations were postmarked with the same date. Our daily home-delivered newspaper switched to daily delivery by the USPS starting March 18. We’ve received the newspaper daily until today. My husband inquired of the postal worker if the newspapers weren’t delivered today and was told yes, they were delivered but there was none for us. What? Nothing about our subscription status has changed from yesterday to today. The postal worker suggested maybe tomorrow we’ll get today’s and tomorrow’s paper at the same time. Unacceptable. We are very frustrated with the horrible, unreliable USPS.

Yes, you KNOW there’s a problem when there’s no junk mail in your box. Sadly, there’s probably nothing any of us can do about the mail service but I guess be thankful we almost always eventually get it.

Very timely post!! I have to get my Rxs by mail to keep costs down is the excuse. Have not had any problem getting them til now. My latest set is sitting in the KCK Distribution Center where they’ve been since Saturday. Because I need one of them ASAP, I finally contacted the USPS Customer Care (Ha!) Line only to be told there was nothing they could do because the tier system they have says my provider sent it the cheapest way–tier 5 Pony Express–& I would have to wait til later next wk even tho it’s only 20 miles from the Distribution Ctr to our post office. To say I was upset is an understatement!! Another pkg last wk left MS, then instead of being sent here it was sent to Fresno, CA, sat out there for awhile & has finally made it to our post office to be delivered tomorrow!! We’ll see!! USPS is an absolute joke & embarrassment!!

I’ve cut back on what I order (1) because I’m tired of the hassle of dealing with delayed packages and those like you mention. It makes me crazy when I think we’re pretty much stuck using the USPS and the costs keep going up and there’s no accountability and no one cares but (2) there’s a nice little shop about 30 miles from me and I go there once a month to stitch so most anything I “need”, I can get from them.
Good luck. Having to mail order your Rx is frightening!

I once ordered a sweater that traveled the U.S. for a month before arriving at my mailbox. It was just for me soit was no big deal. Another time a package made a leg or two on it’s journey and then sat for a week somewhere in PA, halfway across the country from me. I told the local postmaster about it and if he could check too. He said such a think would never happen but he would check. I guess they must have looked for my package, found it and sent it on because about 3 days later it arrived.

I’m getting less and less frustrated with it but it still aggravates me.
