This seems too good to be true so . . you know I’m apprehensive but I’m going to share it anyway, simply because I am so desperate to get rid of squash bugs.
In this video, the guy talks about using Jerusalem artichokes to make a liquid “pesticide”. Again, I can’t say that it works but I do have Jerusalem artichokes growing. I’m not sure how long it will take before mine get tall enough that I can chop a few and make this tonic but I’m definitely going to try it.
Beware though . . Jerusalem artichokes may be worse than squash bugs if you cannot keep them contained. They are prolific but they do make a very pretty flower and we enjoy roasting them and eating them.
Also, in this video, he shows how to make his homemade wetting agent. I doubt I will make that. I have had good luck with Dr. Bronner’s Castille baby soap and I’ll probably keep using that.
Again, I have not used his natural pesticide (with Jerusalem artichokes) but I will try it as soon as I have some that I can harvest.
