This is one of those days when . . I don’t even know where to start.
First, I started making breakfast and realized we don’t have any bread. How could I have made all the bread I’ve made in the last few days and there’s none in this house. I did take those last two loaves to Chad’s and left the leftovers there for them but I made bread Wednesday, Thursday and two loaves on Friday.
Thankfully we had some bagels in the freezer so I made omelettes, bacon, apples and toasted bagels.
We were going to have leftover meatloaf for our meal but I went to the freezer to get some cheese and a container fell out of the freezer and I said “Fine . . whatever is in this container is what we’re having for dinner!” It was beefy mac & cheese, which we both like so I defrosted it in the microwave, stuck it in the oven with added cheese on top, baked sweet potatoes and made a salad. So, even though there was a “snafu” on each of those meals, they worked.
Then, Vince came downstairs and said “Do you want to keep our Sam’s account?” Well, YES! I use it all the time. We have the Plus account and they ship most everything for free. I order more than I buy out of the store but I do love their salmon and tuna and I like buying a case of pork butts. There are four in there and they’re way less than I can get them anywhere else.
Then he tells me he bought a membership to Costco. There’s no Costco here. Why? He said “We can go to Springfield two or three times a year . . ” We won’t. We don’t even go to Sam’s Club in Joplin two or three times a year.
Then, he tells me that he got an email that the membership to Sam’s renews in March so we can think about it. Wait . . the membership to Sam’s renews in April. I had looked at it over the weekend. Nope . . it renews in March. He had just looked at it. A little investigating revealed that we’ve had two Sam’s Club accounts for the past two years. Both were Plus accounts . . I know what happened. We were in the store one day and they had some kind of “deal” for new accounts only. He was going to cancel the old account and I guess he didn’t. So that was kind of . . not frustrating but him trying to figure out why we had two accounts and get one canceled and him trying to convince me that the Costco account is a good idea . . I’m not convinced but it’s done so we’ll see how many times we go over there. Springfield traffic is crazy; the traffic on I-44 to get there is crazy. I just don’t see that there’s anything Costco has that I need that I can’t get from Sam’s, Walmart, Aldi or Azure Standard. But, I could be wrong.
After all that, I went downstairs to start stitching. Tomorrow there’s a Stitch Along starting for Prairie Life Sampler. I’m out of stitching frames so I got out some hoops and thought about trying to stitch with those. Then I remembered that I had a frame with fabric on it and it isn’t labeled for a specific project. I’m sure there is one but I’ll never figure it out so I decided to stitch Prairie Life Sampler on it. The fabric is 40 count Mallow by Zwiegart. I was going to test a few stitches to see if I needed to change any of them.
The first color I tried wasn’t showing up well. Then I realized . . the squares are like on the diagonal. I could not easily see which hole to stick the needle in and the more I looked at it, the more confused I got.
I looked at the fabric on 123 Stitch and it’s 51% linen and 49% cotton and I’m thinking either the weft or the warp is linen and the other is cotton and it’s just weird to me. I think all of the linens I’ve used so far have been 100% linen. I decided there’s no way I’m going to deal with trying to find the right holes all the way through this project so I changed linens.
See how those holes are all on a square type grid and easy to see? This linen is 40 count and I think the color is 712 by Tropical Stitches.
I’m fairly sure some of these colors aren’t going to show up. I dug through linen tubs and there wasn’t any fabric in my stash that was going to work for every color so I figured I’d just pick a linen and change the floss color as needed.
Now I’m ready to start stitching on Prairie Life Sampler tomorrow.

I stitched this and loved every stitch of it. I didn’t look close enough when I started it on 18 ct. aida because there is some over one stitching. I just changed those areas and stitched something different there. It turned out great.

We have a Costco as well as Sam’s…..have had both for 20+ years. Our closest Costco now is 2 hours away, but, we go there for an eye doctor (specialist) and other stores we don’t have where we are now. Don’t know if you ever get to Wichita, KS or how often you might hit OKC, but they both of Costco stores, also.

Springfield is the closest and both of us detest driving on the interstate. I feel like we’ll never go to Costco because of the drive but one year’s membership isn’t terrible so we’ll see how it goes.

– We have a Costco about 20 minutes from us, but I only go about 6 times a year. All other purchases are made online, they have 2 day delivery for non perishables, and free delivery over fifty dollars. You do miss out on the store side specials and some seasonal things, but for coffee, nuts and snacks, oils, pantry stock, it’s great. Now only if your postal service was better…

Yes, I saw about their delivery but not all the way over here.
It’s funny/weird but we have the Plus with Walmart and whatever Sam’s calls theirs so anything they will ship, they do it for free. Often I’ll order something to be shipped and if they have it in the store, someone brings it. I always feel bad because I didn’t leave a tip and the person has usually come and gone by the time I see the email that my order has been delivered. I had ordered 20 pounds of mayocoba beans from Walmart yesterday and they were supposed to be delivered Wednesday. Not an hour after I ordered them, I saw a car leaving our driveway and realized they had just left those beans.

Prairie Life Sampler is one of the WIPS I took along to my parents and worked on a little bit after I finished up one of the other WIPS I had taken. I’m making some changes on Prairie Life but of course need to search for my notes of what I had planned to do since someone did NOT stick that piece of paper in the project bag! 🙁

If it helps, I just sent you an email with the changes you were talking about making to that one.
