Yesterday the fish truck was in town so we went there.
They set up in the Junkerville (flea market) parking lot and that’s one of our favorite flea markets so we took our drinks and our paper towels and our hot sauce and sat in the car and ate . . a picnic in the flea market parking lot!
I knew Vince was going to want to walk around in Junkerville and sure enough, he did. I ended up getting a couple more small jars of DIY chalk paint. Vince, who never buys anything he doesn’t use right away (NOT) cannot figure out why I keep buying paint and haven’t painted anything with it yet. I’ll do it outside when it gets warmer. I am excited to do it but every time I go in Junkerville, I see another color of paint I think I might “need”.
I saw this sign, thought it was cute, walked by it and then went back and got it. I’m hoping Cooper is going to be more friendly but Oscar . . NOT friendly! My first dachshund was really not friendly. Speck was a bit more friendly but a stranger wouldn’t get inside without him letting us know. I always said a burglar probably isn’t afraid of a dachshund but no one is getting near me without them letting me know.
Vince found this book for $1. It’s written by a local doctor and is about the Joplin tornado. I started reading it as I was waiting for Vince to finish shopping and had to wipe away tears, so I switched to another part of the book and the same thing happened. I may not be able to read it. It still makes me very sad to drive through the parts of Joplin that are all new after having seen how bad it all looked after the tornado and knowing how much suffering was caused that night. I’m sure it’s a great book but probably isn’t one I need to read.
I got a spool of black and white ribbon for making bows. They mostly have wider ribbons like you would use on wreaths where I need ribbon a bit more narrow for some cross stitch decorations. They do have a booth with a ton of ribbon in there though.
The last thing I got was a peacock yard ornament. I’ll take a picture of that once we get it in the ground. It’s bright and gaudy but it will make me smile in the back yard.
From there we went to Walmart to buy a few groceries. We were supposed to get maybe 5″ of snow on Sunday but our local weather guy said it could go north or it could go south of us. It apparently is going south of us and I saw tonight that we may get up to 1″. Our high on Sunday is in the mid-40’s so whatever we get isn’t going to last long but we needed a couple of things from Walmart so we ran by there. We made a couple of other stops, then came home.
A friend and I were talking about how it wears us out to leave the house . . probably just part of old age but it really does. I have so much more energy when I stay home . . good reason to never leave the house, right? Maybe except when the fish truck is in town!

Your fish looks yummy! We get the Off The Hook truck here once in awhile. The last time I forgot about it, even though it was parked 2 blocks from our house. I was so sad that I forgot.

I understand. I had put it on my calendar for Friday and kept checking to make sure it wasn’t Thursday because I didn’t want to mention it. Half the time when they come, Vince said he doesn’t want it so we don’t go or I assume he doesn’t want it and don’t even mention it, then later he says “Did you know the fish truck was in town last week? I would have gone!”

I get teary eyed every time I think of an article I read about the kids in school. One of the elementary students said they were scared but the butterfly people protected them. Argh,I’m welling up just writing this! That book would be an interesting but difficult read.

We love Off the Hook but sometimes it just doesn’t work out–like last weekend when our kids invited us over…..there is always next time. They have an interesting schedule–we have not figured that out, just watch their Facebook page!

They come here out of Kansas City. Apparently they have a good truck and a not so good truck. The good truck goes to all the far, far away places (Illinois and who knows where their area covers). I think since we aren’t so far from KC, they come here when the not so good truck is running. I think I get notices when they’re going to be here but like you said . . sometimes it just doesn’t work.
