The new market releases have totally dissolved my resolve to not buy anything. I feel like I’m doing a halfway decent job . . considering how many I want to order and how few I’ve ordered. Most everyone’s charts should be available for pre-order at your favorite shops.
I saw Teresa Kogut’s video with her new charts. I love her work! That video ended my resolve to not buy anything.
The one I kept trying to talk myself out of buying because it’s so big but it’s so pretty but I failed to stop myself from ordering it is Serenity. Vikki Clayton has a silk conversion and you know how much I love her silks. I ordered that.
Teresa Kogut also has a new one called Voice So Sweet. I’ll be crying trying to type this so I’m glad you can’t see me. These words make up part of an old gospel song called In the Garden written by C. Austin Miles in 1912 (according to the internet). My grandmother played the piano at their little country church so that means I was there every Sunday morning, every Sunday night, every Wednesday night and any other time they could think of a reason to have church. My great aunt who is probably 93 still leads the music in that church. I think I knew the words to pretty much every hymn by the time I was 4 years old and I loved to sing! My grandma played by ear, couldn’t read a single note of music but if she heard a song once, she could play it – everything from Elvis to the oldest gospel hymns, and she played so pretty! Evenings were spent around my grandma’s piano with her playing and us, along with anyone else who stopped by, singing. Except on Saturday nights when they faithfully watched Lawrence Welk, their TV was never on. I’m sure that’s where I got my love of old gospel music and my dislike of TV.
My grandpa would get up very early and go out into the fields to work. My grandma would sit down at the piano. I remember many mornings waking to the sweet sound of her music. I would often stay in bed, listening, as long as she would play.
In the Garden was one of her favorite songs. She did love her gardens and maybe that’s where I got some of that too.
Anyway, as soon as I saw that chart, I knew I had to stitch it and it has to be in whatever spot in this house that I see the most! I have an old picture of my grandparents and that picture is sitting on a table in the living room. I think I will hang it near this piece once I get it stitched and framed.
Another one I ordered is Hand in Hand by Silver Creek Samplers. This one makes me smile and hope for a better day for the world.
Another Teresa Kogut chart that I couldn’t walk away from is Foxes Have Dens. That one has a good verse but it’s also a cute chart.
The last chart I ordered is Many Manions by Annie Beez Folk Art.
I’ve told myself that I have to get at least two of these finished and be at least halfway finished with the others or I cannot order anything from next year’s market. Sound fair? Today it does; this time next year maybe not so fair. 🙂

In the Garden was my Granddad’s favorite hymn (and my Daddy’s as well) and it’s one of my favorite hymns. I get goosebumps every time I hear it and my eyes well up with tears.

LOL – I haven’t even looked at any of the market releases but have seen some floss tubes talking about them. So far – not tempted because I’m pretending they just don’t exist. 🙂
