This morning I was grinding wheat to make bread and I’ve been showing Vince the process. I turn the “basket” all the way to where I hear the stones grinding against each other and then back off just a little so as not to damage the stones but still get the finest flour I can get. Vince said “Do you keep an extra set of grinding stones on hand?” Uhh . no! And I’m the one who keeps backup parts for everything so why didn’t I think of those. As soon as I was done mixing up the dough, I called Pleasant Hill Grain and ordered an extra set of stones for us and for Chad. Of course, they’re back ordered with no anticipated arrival date.
I hadn’t planned on making bread today but we have the heavily seeded bread and Ezekiel bread, neither of which are my favorites for sandwich bread so I have plain wheat bread rising. Plain as in no seeds or weird stuff. I used hard white, hard red and kamut. All my grain jars needed to be refilled so I emptied the hard white and hard red jars, then finished with enough kamut to make the dough.
All the jars are now full again and, except for wanting to make some pretzel rolls, I probably won’t need to make bread again til the weekend.
Time to get busy cross stitching . .
