Yesterday morning I was upstairs working in the kitchen and while bread dough was rising, I sat down to read email. There was one from Denise about a chart she was thinking about ordering. She would almost get it, then talk herself out of it. She was clearly asking for my help because she knows what a great job I can do in talking her out of ordering something . . NOT! 🙂
I was laughing through the entire email, knowing she was going to order this chart and knowing she would start it and finish it in a week because that’s how fast she stitches. Vince was looking at me like “nothing can be THAT funny!” I read him her email, showed him a picture of the chart she wanted and he decided he wanted to stitch it. That was really funny but who knows . . maybe Vince can stitch it along with Denise and maybe he would love stitching it.
Anyway, here’s Denise’s post this morning where she talked about it. The chart is beautiful and it would look great on any wall but . . I’m not stitching it.
The idea of the April Fool’s Day start is to stitch something you wouldn’t normally even think about stitching because it has too many stitches or looks too difficult or totally doesn’t go in your decor but you love it anyway, and you’ve tried to talk yourself out of doing it . . you know . . make a rational decision and move on. But, apparently I do not have that ability and you know how much I love a challenge. I told Denise I would look through my charts and find one that I keep wanting to stitch but then talk myself out of it because it looks too hard or too stitch heavy.
I began looking at the X-Stitch app on my phone to see which chart might jump out and say “Stitch ME!”. Nothing did so I was planning on going through the bins later to see what I might find. Then I remembered one of the new releases that every time I saw it, I clicked on it, then talked myself out of it because there’s so much stitching!
It’s A Symphony of Friendship Sampler by Cottage Garden Garden Samplings. I do love their charts but this one is pretty stitch heavy. Every time I would look at it, I would convince myself I would never stitch it and I hadn’t ordered it. I love the birds and I love the tree and the trunk and the border. Denise convinced me that I don’t HAVE to stitch all those leaves. Later in the day Denise wrote me and said something like “You’ve probably already ordered the chart!” I said “No, I haven’t but I did order the Vikki Clayton silks to stitch it so I might as well order the chart.” I did and that will be my April Fool’s Day start with my crazy friend, Denise!
Do we have any more crazy friends who what to start a project that, except for playing a joke on ourselves, we wouldn’t normally think of stitching?

It’s a beautiful piece but I know it is beyond my skill set. If I did decide to stitch it, it would drive me crazy taking so long to complete it, then it would put me in mood that I’m not accomplishing any of my other projects. I can’t wait to see yours and Denise progress.

I wish I had some of that – it doesn’t bother me at all to have them sitting around forever. I love starting the new projects but now that I’m out of frames, I’m having to finish some things.

– This chart has been on my wish list for a few weeks, I have “almost” bought it three times. How do you expect anyone else to show restraint, if you keep showing it? Laughing at myself!

Get it and start it on April 1 with me! You know you’ll finish before I ever get the border stitched! If you’re counting on me to show restraint . . well . . don’t! 🙂

Here’s your justification for leaving out some of the leaves (if you need justification) : Those are full-size acorns and we all know leaves start falling off the trees when they have fully developed acorns! Lol. You’re welcome!
I love the borders on this… the way they worked the alphabet into the border motifs is wonderful! Happy stitching, because I see this coming to your home soon.

Judy, as soon as I saw this chart I fell in love with it…lol…I ordered it today.
I am planning 40ct, not 36 and will probably use the called for floss.
I’ll jump in and start it on the 1st with you. It will probably turn into a three year project, but I’m okay with that.

Yay! I’m probably going to use 36 count but it will be Picture This Plus and it’s usually a little tight for a 36 count. Their 40 count has some pretty tiny holes. A three year project means you’ll finish before me! 🙂

I saw on a floss tube a leap year start and finish it in 4 years the next leap year….I thougt that was a cool idea for a very large project…

Yes, that’s what I thought at first but then I’d have a frame tied up for four years. This one would be good because it has four parts but I’m going to try to get it done in less than four years.
