I want to says that I need more stitching frames but a more accurate statement is that I have too many WIPS and all my frames are in use. I use a leader on the frames and then, using a basting stitch on the sewing machine, I sew the linen to the leader. That makes it a little more trouble to switch between projects unless one is finished and it’s time to take it off the leaders and add another piece of linen . . . so, I need more frames. Vince makes the frames for me so it’s just a matter of him getting them made, which will happen sooner rather than later, I hope.
I had the bright (or not so bright) idea that when there’s a piece of linen – especially fat quarter, which is about 18″ x 27″, and I needed a piece of fabric . . say 12 x 14, instead of cutting the fabric to size, I would put the whole fat quarter on the frame, stitch what I wanted to stitch, then leave it all on the frame til there was something I wanted to stitch that would also fit on that piece of fabric. That saves the time of loading and re-loading linen on the leaders but it does take more time to free up a frame.
There was still a good bit of fabric, I think it’s about 12″ at the top of the Strawberry Harvest piece so I started Be Mine by The Camping Stitcher on there yesterday.

You can see part of the back side of Strawberry Harvest there and I’ve started Be Mine at the top right. I think there will be space to stitch a small Christmas ornament on the top left corner once Be Mine is finished. My goal is to get Be Mine stitched by the 25th so I can start a Prairie Schooler project on the 26th and that will be stitched on the top of a piece of linen. That will not be a quick stitch so I can’t count on it freeing up a frame.
The good news is maybe the lack of frames will encourage me to finish more projects.

Sounds a little like my strategy for not having leftovers multiply in my fridge. I simply leave the food in the pans and put the whole thing in the fridge. When I don’t have any pans left, or when I Want a particular pan, then I tend to get out all the pans and have a meal made up of leftovers, thus freeing up the pans that have been lingering in the fridge.
