This is what Cooper does every night. Same spot. Same position.
Rita does not like to be held . . not at all. We carry her outside to go to the bathroom and she’s wiggling and squirming and grunting the entire time trying to get down. She’s never wanted to sit with me . . maybe because we had Speck when she came and he wasn’t much on sharing my lap. She would sit on Vince’s lap for maybe 5 minutes a night. He will sometimes try to hold her while he’s sitting and she doesn’t like it at all.
Oscar will sit next to me on the sofa but he’s not much on sitting on my lap. Maybe once a week, he’ll put his head on my lap but he isn’t a lap dog.
Cooper is still young so things could change but as of now, he is a lap dog. It doesn’t matter who is holding him . . just so he’s on someone’s lap. Mostly he sits with Vince because Oscar gets a bit testy if Cooper gets too close to me. It’s kinda like “I don’t want to snuggle with her but I don’t want you to do it either!”

They pick their person and don’t like to share. When I had more than 1 dog there was a pecking order who got to sit with me and who got to sleep right next to me. My dog Karlin doesn’t sit with me for more than 10 minutes and he is down.

.It’s good to hear about Rita. I was thinking of her just yesterday. It’s just as well she was never a cuddler, because it would have been tough to compete with even ONE of those dogs!
BTW, a woman in England talks about her “sausages”. Not sausage dogs, just sausages!

They seem to call them that more in England than I hear it here. The Oscar Mayer mobile was in Joplin this weekend. If Oscar wasn’t such a grump, I would have taken him and gotten his photo taken with it.
