Yes, we have completed 16 days into the new year but so far, I’m keeping up. I took this picture yesterday of my stitching journal.
My stitching goals for 2024 are (1) Stitch every day and (2) Stitch at least 300 stitches per day. I haven’t met those goals but I have tried. One day, I didn’t get in a single stitch. I kept meaning to do it and never did so I’m re-committed. There’s no way I can’t sit down and make 5 or 10 stitches so . . no more zero stitching days. I had some good stitching days so my average for the first half of the month is 340 stitches per day.
One of the reasons I want to report here is to help keep me accountable.
I’ve started three new projects and all three were planned and scheduled.
I should have labeled this page “Fabric Ordered” because there’s aida on there too.
I ordered the 32 count linen Brea for using with the Flower Floss. The aida is to have for stitching when I don’t have access to the magnifier. I’ll keep a project or two on Aida and hope I can see on it without the magnifier. It hasn’t arrived yet so I won’t know for sure til it gets here. Near the end of 2023 I did order a couple of pieces of 18 count aida and I can definitely see the holes in that without a magnifier but it is some stiff fabric. I definitely don’t like it but will probably use it for smalls. We’ll see.
Charts are my weakness. I want every chart I see being stitched on flosstubes but I’ve been pretty disciplined.
I was watching The Camping Stitcher’s youtube and saw that she had two new charts. One is The Blessing Sampler and the other is Be Mine.
I will do another report at the end of the month and then do them at the end of every month, them combine them into an annual report at the end of the year. I know that it doesn’t take much crazy buying to make one embarrassing end of the year report so I’m thinking about that as I consider what I’m going to buy or not buy!

All of us stitchers can relate. The struggle is real. LOL! I wonder if you washed the Aida if it would soften up?

It’s hand dyed and the instructions say not to wash it but if I decide I’m not going to use it as it is, I can wash it and play around with coffee or tea dying it.

Because of you I am now keeping a journal of my material purchases. Right now I have more material than I can store or most likely use before I die. I am trying not to buy anything because it is pretty or on sale. It is a challenge. It is also an eye opener how much I buy and how little is being used. I hope as the year progresses the used amount is more and the bought amount is less. I make lap quilts for donations to various organizations.

It is definitely a challenge. Sounds like you and I are in the same boat when it comes to buying. I noticed years ago that when I was too tired to quilt or knit or stitch, I “entertained” myself by shopping. I’m betting that over half the fabric I have in this house came from late night ordering. I still felt “creative” while planning a project and ordering fabric or yarn but most of it never got used. The funny thing is that I’ll see a linen I think I really need, then if I check my list of what I have here, I already have it.
Good luck to you with not buying so much.
