Yesterday I started the SAL that Teresa Kogut is offering Tier 4 of her Patreon group. I’m stitching it on 46 count Up in the Attic by Fox & Rabbit and using Victoria Clayton’s silks. Teresa Kogut is also using Up in the Attic, 40 count I think. The 46 count is a bit lighter than the 40 count I have here so I knew I might have to change some of the colors.
The called for color for the house is DMC 422. It wasn’t showing up at all on my fabric.
I thought maybe a greenish yellowish tan would work but that wasn’t a good choice because the tree branches are greenish brown and then there are the green leaves on the tree and there’s a gray fence below the house. I didn’t want the house to be bright because as you can see from the other floss colors, it kinda has a warm, country feel.
I tried four different colors before deciding on this peachy coral color.
I’m assuming next month’s installment will be the rest of the house. The called for color for the windows is black. I kinda feel like that’s a bit “in your face” so I’m going to stitch those in the same dark gray that is used for the fence.
I feel like I’m being critical but I LOVE Teresa Kogut’s designs and I know the farther I go into this, the more I will love it but . . that area in the middle .. that’s a sign and it says something about Antiques. Right now the house reminds of a face. the windows remind me of eyes (I know . . forget the two on the left) but with the two eyes above that sign and the outline of the sign, it looks like a mouth and two eyes.
I’m not going to stitch any more on this until I get next month’s installment and I may even wait on a few more and then try to catch up. If all the other buildings are going to be way darker, I’m going to restitch this house and make it darker.
For now, this project is going to wait til I get more info and/or see what other people’s houses are looking like.

It appears that the face of the house is shocked…at what, I wonder?

Probably upset about my color choices. 🙂

We would love to have you stitch the Summer Schoolhouse pieces with us but I certainly understand if you decide you’re not going to do it.
