Yesterday I had several emails about the shelf, and a comment today so here’s the info on the shelf we ordered. We’ve used these shelves for many years. They’ve been moved and abused and are very sturdy. Some seem to be more heavy duty than others so be sure and check the weight capacity of each shelf. On this unit, it’s 800 pounds per shelf without the wheels. We never use the wheels. We started out using them in the sewing room in about 2000 and any time we’ve needed shelves somewhere, those are our go to shelving.
Before the breakfast room shelves, we added them to the sun room to make it a butler’s pantry, of sorts.
Lately, the least expensive place Vince has found to buy these is at Bed, Bath & Beyond. They offer free shipping. They come in all sizes. I wanted to maximize the space available, mostly cover up that there was a window behind the shelf and be sure it didn’t block the light switch next to the door leading out to the sun room so 60″ wide x 18″ deep x 72″ tall was perfect for my spot.
Also, if you’re going to be using anything the least bit unsteady (glass jars), because of the spaces between the wires, I recommend shelf liners. In the early years of purchasing these shelves, they came with the liners but, for the last few years, the ones we have purchased did not include the liners. There are several places where those can be purchased. We’ve bought the last few sets from Ebay though I do see that The Webstaurant Store has them also.
The Ebay listing is for four liners so you’ll need two sets. They do have free shipping. We have ordered a 6th shelf directly from Seville so we went with the Ebay deal. The Webstaurant Store liners are sold by “each” so you could get five there or however many you need but that does not include shipping. Some liners are thinner than others. I have no idea how thick the Webstaurant liners are. We have ordered the Ebay liners before so we knew those were similar to the liners we used to get with the shelf units.
OK . . probably more than anyone needed or wanted to know.
